Hi all,

First post so please be gentle.
This site has already proved a wealth of knowledge and information and has already helped me diagnose and fix my dodgy servotronic on the steering issue I had. But this next one seems slightly different to anything I’ve searched and read on here.

My new to me 2005 supercharged has a issue with the rear washer.
I have searched and seen they are a relatively common problem, but don’t know if mine is slightly different or a replacement is needed?

Have had the car around 2 weeks now and at first thought I was low on fluid.

The problem/issue is that although my rear washer is working...... it takes a good 7-10 seconds of activating before I see water coming over the back window.
At first I thought it was relatively normal or just a usual Range Rover quirk. But yesterday I noticed some tracks of the washer fluid on the trim on the inside of the rear tailgate panel.

So to recap, the wiper arm works perfectly fine and I am getting washer fluid but takes a lot of time to go through, and now seems to be leaking slightly.

I’m thinking my motor may be on its way out and slowly but surely failing???
If so does anyone know the part number/s I need to rectify the problem.

Try changing the non return valve.
As a temporary fix on mine I used a valve from a garden centre intended for a plant watering system, it cost pence and is still working fine.

It can cause both of your problems.
If it is stuck half open pressure builds up when you keep using it, but when not in use water in the pipe drains back to the tank, meaning when you operate it, their is a longer delay whilst it refills the pipe the full length of the car.

Would something similar to these be ok instead of the £10-15 genuine part, these are around £2-3 if they do the same job?

They would be fine, just make sure to fit it the correct way round.
