After the vacuum leak was found I moved onto servicing the gearbox.

Now you have swapped all the solenoids do you plan on resetting the gearbox adaptations. not sure if it’s a good thing to do or not. Might be worth an email to those in the know. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’ve read mixed feelings online about doing it after just doing an oil and filter change on the box.

should be a properly sorted motor when you have finished. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Fingers crossed. I bought this one at the right price so don’t mind doing the work to it and I guess I’m not doing anything other then a major service so I could have had to do all this on a car I’d paid retail money for.

That’s a fine looking motor you’ve got yourself and sounds like you’ll have it well sorted by the time your done spannering. Keep us updated how the gearbox performs as that’s a job I’m for doing shortly along with the belts, idlers and tensioner on my tdv8, but the cost was putting me off atm so great tip about swapping the bearings

It's definitely worth changing the bearings separately from the pulleys if the pulleys are in good condition. It cost me less then 20 quid in bearings and less than 30 minutes to refit them.

GrunbterNI i am having my 4.4 TDV8 belts and pullies done i have also got a new water pump which is being done too (nothing wrong with the current one, but you know with all the new stuff the bearing in the pump will fail shortly after). it is a pig of a job and lucky for me the dealer is paying the £300 + VAT labour costs. As i cannot see well enough i have elected not to change just the bearings so ordered all new. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

On the Supercharged there's the viscous fan, fan shroud and both belts.

It’s pretty easy to strip enough space out on the 4.4 to get at some of the belt pulleys and tensioner on the 4.4 David, the squeeze is getting the belts on and off round different things. I have tackled the tensioner and a pulley but by all accounts the belts do come off without major quantities of swear words being spent.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

TJH they are all plastic. the bearings are serviceable too if you are inclined it is possible to press them out and press in new ones if you have the kit. this will save you a good few quid too. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current
