Ever since this car was finished it’s had a very feint vibration through the drivetrain at certain speeds.

This is what I have David. Comes and goes but for me it seems to resonate from the passengers footwell... its like a slight 'scrapping' noise to at times.

It's going up on a lift today to try and track it down. Prop/UJ's/Centre Bearing look and seem fine - no play - I guess I'll see with the wheels rolling on the lift... although it won't really be under load ... Gavin

I ordered a new (to me, was used off eBay) front OS half shaft for the Range Rover as I hate changing CV gators. It's such a messy job.

Gators looked good upon initial inspection but when fitting it I noticed a blob of dirty grease on my finger. Upon closer inspection there was a pinhole in the new gator as well right under the edge of the clip.

Anyway, £73 later and I had a GKN inner and outer CV gator delivered from Advanced Factors. Ordered at 12:12 yesterday, dispatched at 13:16 and delivered here at 10:38 this morning. Genuinely can't fault service like that!

I cleaned out the CV joints tonight and put new gators on both ends of the shaft and then refitted it to the car without any dramas thankfully. To make fitting the shaft easier I removed the whole hub so the car was put back on its wheels and the arms were tightened at standard ride height. That bloody hub nut doesn't half go tight though! 420Nm! The shock absorber to hub ones are quite meaty too at 250Nm. Both dealt with nicely with my Snap On digital torque wrench though thankfully Smile

I then moved onto the rear of the car and fitted a new rear wiper blade and I remembered that months ago I'd ordered a new one way valve for the rear screen washer as I had a suspicion it was knackered due to not being able to get fluid onto the back screen. Thankfully I was right and upon stripping it down I found the one way valve was passing in both directions allowing the screen wash to syphon back to the tank. The replacement was fitted and normal service of the rear screen washer was resumed.

Private plates also removed but I didn't have any double sided tape in the workshop so that's tomorrow evenings job before MOT on Thursday or Friday hopefully Smile

She's then ready for the new owner to come and fetch her Smile

I ordered this one from Halfords:

I believe there is an LR part number for it, I’ll try and dig it out later.

And the MOT is passed without so much as an advisory! Very Happy

The engine work I did last year is obviously paying dividends as the car barely registered on the scale for the emissions test…

Fast Idle Test:

CO
Limit: 0.20
Actual: 0.00

HC
Limit: 200
Actual: 2

Lambda
Limits 0.970 - 1.030
Actual - 1.001

Natural Idle Test:

CO
Limit: 0.30
Actual: 0.00

Pretty happy with those results!

3 years after it all started, this adventure draws to a close!

The car was collected by the new owner this morning and driven back to the Midlands.

He messaged to say he made it back without any issues and said the car drove perfectly. Smile

I hope he has many trouble free miles in it given the amount of work it had done to it!
