All having done this a few times and the fact that there are many posts about the rear wash/wipe I thought I’d do a quick write up of how to access it.....with pics

You do have to remove the spoiler - I did mine this evening and literally took 5 minutes.

First you have to remove the trim panel from the inside. Grab the top of the panel and pull away from the glass and then downwards. It can be quite stiff to start with if it’s not been off before - be bold...!



You should then see 3 silver bolt heads at the top (circled in red) - although the bottom edge now you have the tailgate up - these secure the spoiler to the car. (10mm)



Undo and remove them. Now, assuming you are standing behind the car, pull the spoiler towards you (pulling it towards the back of the car) as there are two white locating rings on the tailgate.



Once you have pulled the spoiler about 2 inches or so backwards it just ilfts up and off - Its attached by a cable which I guess i the high level stop light - I placed a couple of cloths on the roof and laid it back down as the wire is long enough to allow this without removing it.



Now you can get to the black plastic wiper arm cover - be a little careful as the plastic is likely to be a bit brittle. (ask me how I know)..! But I doubt they are expensive to replace. - edit - not available separately and £47 including new wiper arm..!

Pull the larger end away from the window and when it starts to move, start to lever it towards the left as the rest of the cover sits under the wiper arm.

Once out, you will see the 2 tiny holes/jets - I used my air compressor to blow through but a very small pin will probably do the trick.

Fit in reverse - it litterally can be done in under 15 minutes

Once it’s back together you can adjust the jets as you can the front ones - a small pin inserted in the hole and you can angle the jet as required.

Beware that putting the spoiler back can be a pain.

I wish I had just given the jets a good poke with a safety pin first as there wasn’t that much gunk blocking mine. I’d suggest trying that first before taking it apart... 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue

If you're just changing the blade, you can have someone open the tailgate as the wiper is mid swipe and it will stop. This is the manufacturer suggested process

This is relly only required if you specifically need to get to the wiper motor to investigte/rectify leaks in the pipe (quite common for the flexu hoses to come lose) or to clear the jets.

Although clearing the jets can be done with an airline from the outside without this removal, its also quite common to blow the pipes off like this (so you could end up removing it anyway)

If you simply want to change the blade and you have a push button start, just turn the wiper on and go stand behind the car - lift the tailgate (i.e. pull the catch to open) when the wiper arm is near the 6 o'clock position. you don't necessarily need 2 people to do it

You don't have to get out of the car - the tailgate release button on the dash will pause the wiper when you press it.  Bish.
