L322 Rear Screen Remote (help to identify, please)

My 2010MY (late 2009 build 5.0 facelift) SC Autobiography has the factory fit rear screens.

No remote or earphones came with it when I recently bought it

My research suggests it was a few months too early for the fancy LCD screen remote, but should it have a remote of some kind? I haven’t manage to get the rear screens on without one so far. Should I have a non-screen remote?

If so, given I’d have to buy one anyway, would the LCD screen remote work instead or are the signals different? Will headphones just work with mine also?

Cheers,

I believe that if it has the TFT instruments, ie the last facelift, it should have the screen based remote, though I know the remote is shown in the 2011 manual.... I may be wrong but don’t think so. Mine just has that remote.

There is a specific one for the DVD player, which I don’t have with mine.... though I think some have both, so I’m not sure we have definitive information unfortunately.

You need infrared headphones... not Bluetooth like on the L405, so check when you are looking.

I take it you have had a good search in the boot etc....? Mine were tucked into the right cubby....

I’ll have another look around. Had a search yesterday when I was looking for the (missing) detachable tow bar but didn’t find either. Will have a more extensive look later.

Mine does have the same shaped cutouts as yours but I haven’t checked if one/both are setup as charging docks... will do though.

Mine does have a DVD changer but as great as some of the options are, I think the DVD /ipod connector/tv and some others are starting to feel their age, technology-wise.

I’d like to update them to SSD based with video files via USB but don’t want to spoil the whole integration of a factory fitted system.
I’ll have a ponder and search the forum before I do anything

The correct place for the detachable tow ball is under the boot floor at the far right hand side. In its own little place.... not where the spare wheel is.....

Yes, it can be a little dated, and will never be HD no matter what you do.... you can only really add anything on, video wise, by using the RCA in connectors in the rear cubby. Otherwise it means trying to replace the DVD changer with something else. Not sure that’s been done.

Yeah... suppose if I’d wanted up to date entertainment system I’d have bought an L405.

Still, the extra £20k still in my back pocket will go some way to comforting me Rolling with laughter

Don’t suppose you have a pick of the rear seat middle remote storage compartments, without the remotes? I’m interested in the docking arrangements.

Cheers,

My car is in the garage for brakes at the min, so I don’t have it. What I will say though, is that the DVD remote has batteries in, so no connection to car.... (the remote I don’t have).... the screen remote I took out my car to make sure it didn’t go missing whilst away.... it charges from the car....

Bit of a thread here about HDMI to RCA....

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic51067.html?highlight=dvd

And a query I put up, and then answered myself about menu navigation is here.

I take it you have all the settings under RSE in the front? If you have that, you should have a remote, as 4 is the remote lockout option....

Cheers,
No, mine definitely wouldn’t dock with that remote. It has the 2 compartments but has some cutout holes in the bottom which presumably would be used for the docking terminals... weird, considering it’s the facelift 2010-12 model and has the rear screens.
Still, whilst I was rooting around in that area I found a ski hatch and what I presume to be a very long bag attached for keeping wet skis away from the interior of the car. I’ll never use it and I don’t ski, but I’m strangely glad I have one Thumbs Up

Yes, I had a look and found these options:

Using these, from the front screen, I was able to get both back screens working. I even noticed the lockout options on the screen, for the remote(s) and headphones. My screens even have a small dark red translucent ‘window’ in the surrounding trim, which must surely be an infra red transmitter for the headphones and/or receiver for the remote.
Either way, there’s no dock facility in the central rear armrest cubby
Maybe just need to buy/borrow remote(s) and headphones to see if they work

I believe the infrared receiver is between the seats on the roof... you should be able to see it. Can’t take a pic of mine, but found the pic.... top left on this one....

Cheers for that pic. Yes, mine has one of those.

I’m going to start a new thread asking if anybody has one for sale, or even could try borrowing one first to see if it would work.

Cheers for the pointers Thumbs Up

Remembered to take these this morning....

So if you don’t have the connectors in the big space, you just need the smaller normal remote I imagine.
