2008 Westminster FLOOD Project - Are all BCM's created equal | |
Greetings - Newbie here to the forum on my second Westminster. This vehicle was an auction find priced within my soon to beDivorced budget. The Water line covered the bottom of her seats and when I supplied a new battery, she was none to happy - quite the Christmas tree. However, she's cleaning up nicely and we'll sort things out.
The current challenge is when I do connect the battery the alarm goes off. So I put key in ignition to turn it off, then get out of the vehicle again and put the key in the door and turn twice - nothing happens. I pull each locked door handle twice - nothing happens. The door lock button on the dash - nothing. The remote unlock - nothing. Windows and seats do not function and the clock turns round constantly when power is present.
My unprofessional diagnosis is that I clearly have a BCM issue - mostly because of the spinning clock windows remote + door lock issues (BTW - I am open to other ideas.) My question to those who come before me is this: I see a lot of BCM's out there on the interwebs /eBay etc. I am 100% convinced I need to suck it up and acquire a Gap Diagnostics tool however what about the BCM Unit itself. Can I purchase another for 4.2 Supercharged model and just replace and reprogram?
I expect I'll be spending a great deal of time here so thank you for reading and let me know if I'm doing it wrong.
Looking forward to your thoughts
