L405 coolant leak - rear seats

Hello,

I have a L405 and I unfortunately have a coolant leak for the rear air con , dripping from the underside of the pipes at the rear. LR are advising me the only way to get to this pipe (which I can see) is via dropping the subframe and that a subframe
Rear is not meant to be dropped so could mean the bolts don’t go back in. Has any one got any thoughts??

Thanks
Nic

Re: L405 coolant leak - rear seats

I have the same problem coolant leaking from under the rear seats in front of the rear axle.took it to a none dealer who specialise in LR and will do most jobs have said they don’t want to touch it as they haven’t the confidence in dropping the fuel tank etc so it’s booked in for Thursday at my local dealer I’m dreading the phone call it’s only done 38k In 5 1/2 years and had an easy life how can this happen and does anybody think I have any recourse given the low mileage

I had the same thing happen on mine... Mine had Ali pipe to rubber hose to Ali pipe each part was about a foot long, so I simply removed the rubber pipe and replaced it with a longer one that covered the hole in the Ali pipe where the steel clip was fitted! That steel clip corroding was what made the Ali pipe corrode and then leak!

Really straight forward simple fix! JLR main dealer wanted to remove the rear subframe! Shocked To replace the leaking pipe!

Thanks Pal I read that, guess I will have to wait to see what LR say on Thursday and then if that is the case find someone to either do the fix like you or bypass the rear matrix. RR L460 2023 HSE PHEV

unfortunately JLR techs tend not to be s creative as us mere mortals, so they will have a "procedure" to fix each issue. Even though they will have the tools and capability to repair the pipe, the book will say they have to replace it so I would doubt they will be willing to repair it the same way as Craig. any local garage should be able to effect the repair for you though Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

As you're in Birmingham I'd suggest a quick zip down the M5 to Craig would be your best option to having it sorted by someone who knows what they are doing and, more importantly, has resolved exactly this problem themselves.

Mines just been recovered back to the main dealer for this very same fault. Thankfully it's under LR's approved warranty. Annoyingly they had it twice before the pipe basically just gave way and managed to dump 4 ltrs of coolant in about 30 miles. If its started leaking I would recommended dealing with it sooner rather than later...
