Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to view the live reading from the CVD controller/module to each shock? My ride is really not good. Occasionally it’s luxury but most of the time it’s worse than our golf on 115k with the original shocks.

If not I’ll put a multi meter across each one just to check the current is there to activate the solenoid. No warnings / fault codes showing.

Cheers

Edit: second question, why does my IID tool show I have a 6 speed box when mines an 8 speed? 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

I'd like to know exactly the same question re. CVD voltages, not sure it's there, but would be good to know and interesting to plot against lateral G's to see the values increase on one side when cornering.

EDIT 05/03/21 - Have since researched further and it's amps that should be measured and not volts, even better would be to read the duration of the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal with a high end multimeter, or oscilloscope.

If that data's not available through the IID, I might splice a data logger into the damper wiring. I have similar complaints with ride quality on poor roads (love the flat cornering though!)

I can answer the 6 speed / 8 speed question, that's a glitch with the IID, doesn't cause any issues. IIRC, there's a question / thread about it elsewhere on this site.

Flat cornering? Really? Mine corners like a drunken whale!

One of the members on here recalibrated his using the IID tool, but I can't recall the details. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Same here, corners flat but it bounces all over the show on really bumpy bits (more so than our Alfa 147 on it's 10 year old shocks!). Probably just because it's higher and weighs so much.

Is it actually possible to use the IID Tool to update/flash ECU's to the latest version? Could have sworn I used to be able to see this, but since updating to the latest version I can now only flash the Bosch firmware for the compressor, no other options available, just me?

A Trap

Does anyone know how to avoid ‘error E05’ when resetting engine adaptations on a 3.6 TDV8 2008 with a iID BT?

I can clear fault codes and gearbox adaptions, just not the engine?

The EDC recalibration function on the tool seems to be hit and miss. Makes little difference to mine after a few miles

Yep terrible ride as above. I’m interested to see the live readings to all 4 dampers to see what the ecu is sending. Eg if the ecu is instructing 1.5amps on harsh roads then the ride should be smooth. If it’s not smooth then maybe the shock/solenoid is dead. If it’s sending low or minimal amps then the ecu is ‘reading’ the road as harsh. Next step would be to read the sensor data

That’s my take on a troubleshooting process - just need the data feed! Logging would be useful as per D3jon 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

Yeah, it's really quite impressive compared to the older V8 FF we have with regular struts (which are new). She corners great for a 2.5T vehicle.

It's just the ride of the 2011 TDV8 is a bit rough over potholes which the older one smooths out far, far better, although it's on 19" rims and 60 profile rubber which probably helps a lot.

Hello everyone. I wonder if the technicians at GAP or those with superior knowledge on here can tell me if it is possible to upload an engine remap file to the engine control ECU? 2012, FFRR Westminster TDV8 - Orkney Grey

You can buy a remap through Gap, don't think you can use your own though... Thumbs Up Pete

I've bought all the bits to create a simple logger that'll log long & lat G forces as well as amps to 2 dampers at a time, once I've written the code it'll log to an SD card all being well.

Just need a rainy day to get it done. Watch this space.

Gap advised me some months ago that their tool could not at the time update the 4.4's PCM via the OBD port.

I would check that the 3 accelerometers are tight in their mounts.

Just activated the DRL's on my '09 USA spec FF with my IID tool. When activating I had a choice of "Main" or "dip." Does that mean here in the USA high beams Vs. low beams or something else? I have it on "dip" right now.

And, does this also turn on the tail lights too? Can I have the tail lights on with DRL on my car?

Up until now I've just been turning my headlights on every time I drive, day or night, but on low beams.

Thanks!

I shouldn't have been playing around with things, but for the life of me I can no longer figure out the combination of settings for my MY2010+ 5.0SC Autobiography. These were working but I've been messing about Laughing

1. My Auto Full Beam has disappeared
2. My mirrors don't fold on first close. I can lock the car, but then I have to unlock and then lock them again for them to fold.

And I know that if it isn't broken I shouldn't fix it, but I find this GAP IID tool really bad for my mental state, you know when I see all these updates available for my various modules and yet I'm not able to apply them Rolling Eyes Shocked Grrrr I just want to have things clean and up-to-date with electronics Laughing
