Today's job was to change the gear box oil and filter along with both diff oils and transfers box oil.

The gear box oil was dirty but wasn't burnt and still had a tint of green.
Been out for a run and to be honnest there isn't any difference but all was smooth and fine before.
3.7 ltrs came out and following procedure I managed to get 3.2ltrs back in so unsure if it was over filled to start with.
Il give it 2k miles and will change again to give it chance to circulate and get more fresh oil in.

How bad of a job did you find replacing the oil cooler gaskets?

I am due to pick up an L322 which I suspect needs this doing so I'm trying to prepare myself!

Fairly straightforward job as been mentioned in the wiki the top coolant hose there's a 4 way coupler best to remove it out-of the way before removing the main intake hose to the throttle body

Be very careful that you don’t drop anything into the oilways or let the oil and the water mix....

A few anecdotal stories about some folks destroying the engine by getting water into the oil etc. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

A scary thought! I shall tie the job in with an oil change afterwards to minimise the chance of any issues.

Today was rear arches and sills.
Since buying the car I wanted to check the sills and inner arches as they seem prone to rot.
Luckily I've caught it just in time looking at it there's no wonder they rot so bad there is the foam block at the back of the sill where it meets the arch this holds so much water and muck.

First off stripped all the plastic arches and sills then shot blasted to reveal clean metal and thankfully not rot damage.
All metal work was prepped with red oxide then black stone chip and the painted arch lips with etch primer black and clear coat.
I also wax oiled all the inner sills and arches.

One thing to note is the two drains for the sills were all blocked with muck.
For people with the later l322s ide say this is a must if you don't want any future problems.

Also fitted my new steps but forgot to take pictures

Cover arch lips with grease then fit Freelander 2 rubber arch protectors. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Will do Rob cheers, I've all ready wax oiled the lips but once that's dried a little more I'll get some grease on and will order a set of free lander 2 lip protectors now.
