Rear Windscreen (Tailgate) Side Moulding

Hello there,

I know most people remove and bin these mouldings as they do little other than stop drips when the tailgate is open, however I am Lockdown bored and looking for things to fix...

I am stuck with what the tab on the bottom does! (circled). It doesn't exist on my originals... I initially thought it needed to be cut off and used elsewhere, but now I am beginning to think it's a mod to hold the bottom of the moulding laterally onto the window.... does anyone know or have any ideas?

The original trims should have tabs as well, sometimes they snap off when you try to remove the trims. I recently replaced my tailgate trims and used a stanley knife blade to get the old (snapped off) tabs out from under the window glass. The tabs are there to keep the trim in place and shouldn't be cut off. It can be a bit fiddly getting the tabs into place when fitting, best thing is to leave the tape on, locate the tabs under the glass then carefully pull the tape off whilst keeping the tabs in place with a small screwdriver or bit of plastic. It's also why the tabs have an extra long tape 'tail' on them.

Dammit, never even realised that mine were missing Embarassed Whistle

Another item to add to the shopping list, will look much tidier when fitted. Thumbs Up
