I have noticed of the last few days that under acceleration my car has been producing black smoke out the back, it doesn't burn any oil. I have viewed a few threads on black smoke but they seam to be for the TDV8 and I have the TD6 is it likely to be the intercooler pipes and is there anyway of testing the system to find any leaks.

Pretty sure, irrespective of engine, it will be a split rubber hose. May take some finding, as some splits only obvious under load, so you will have to have a really good inspection.

Then you can replace with a silicone hose rather than OE.

I can confirm that the top intercooler hose has split Land Rover will sell only the top hose and the metal pipe and the bottom hose as a complete set for £250.
Dose any body know where I can just get the top hose from.

I've got an early 2004 TD6 not sure if it should have but it didn't
