Happy days, yeah that is down side of the Grom, it certainly was not £20.00. Cant go wrong with the good old simple solutions. 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 TDV8

My eldest decided to sit on the lower tailgate this morning, which was followed by a loud bang as the left hand tailgate wire broke. On inspection it was very rusty at both fixing points. I’ve a new pair coming tomorrow so look forward to sorting that out.

🤒 bit of an oil leak has developed. I’ve done quite a few miles (relatively) over the last few weeks, and pushed her on a bit (80+). Hopefully nothing serious.... |

Oil leak wasn't an oil leak but a clip on the hose from the power steering pump, nice and simple. However, whilst coming back from London last week she threw an ABS / Traction fault on the M40. I'm hoping it is just a wheel sensor giving up the ghost. Taking her to be plugged in tomorrow so hopefully will find out what is going on then. Oh, and the roof lining, which is unmarked, has started to sag quite badly. Time for a trip to Nationwide Trim.. |

Through another MOT, a couple of advisories which I’ll sort out in due course. I’ve taken a punt on a secondhand microswitch for the drivers door to see if it sorts the intermittent central locking cycle. Fingers crossed. 🤞 |

Time to push on with the refurb now. She is in at the moment for a replacement internal temp fan, a service and investigation of the ABS / Traction control light. It is showing there is a short, which means it can only be a new ABS ECU....£700+vat, but I've ordered a second hand unit. Fingers crossed.

Any suggestions where to start with aircon leaking? It was tested before being re-gassed and worked well for a couple of months but then was no longer cold. Any help appreciated |

The ABS ecu had a short and had fried two of the wheel speed sensors for good measure. All sorted with genuine Wabco parts and now no ABS / Traction lights or warnings.

This was lurking behind the rear bumper when it was removed for paint....Not a great deal holding it together. Time for some new metal and a coat of something....

I picked up a second hand lower tailgate from Keith Gott today. It looks to be in great condition and will be painted in the next few days. I also ordered the kit to fix the door handles so they will be flush when shut, a whopping £4 from JLR classic parts. |

I went to see the progress today, four weeks in to a two week job..... Timelines aside it is looking really good. Most of the paintwork is done, the callipers come back from Bigred this week, just the wheels to refurb to complete the exterior work. A new headlining at Nationwide and aircon repair will finish her off completely. Pics to follow. |

Nice to see someone else giving a P38 a decent bit of TLC

She’s back and looks great. Wheel arches, bumpers, cills, door bottoms, lower tailgate and wing mirrors all prepped and painted, the whole car mopped and polished and the wheels and calipers refurbed. Very pleased. I used Tony Williams / Retro Marque in Malvern. Photos don’t really do it justice. A bit of work on the grill is needed so that’s the next job!
