There was clear evidence of cavity wax having been applied to my 4.2SC when I inspected/rust treated the sills and rear arches last winter, but I can't say for sure that the wax residues I found were factory-applied or had been done after build.

The rear arches on the L322 are crap and everyone I have owned or seen has had bubbling near the join to the bumper and bubbling around the arches! The inner door arch also suffers and so does the lower cill. I have had mine treated waxed etc etc etc but I now have an issue again on a car this was immaculate with now rear arch present. these cars are crap supposed to be 4X4 off road worthy well the body panel are worthless if they can withstand the UK weather. Also the boots leak and so do the rear quarters frying all your electrics just for good measure happened to me also!! NEVER BUYING THIS MODEL THE L322 AGAIN I WILL BE GOING BACK TO THE SPORT.... It’s such a shame. Worst thing about ownership. I’ve not seen X5’s or Sports with rust outside....

not all FF's rust, i had a TD6, 4.2 SC, and a 4.4 TDV8 westie and none of those had rust problems.. ... - .- -.

Agreed. My 1998 V70R is rust free however I do remember my Dad having a 240GLT with rust issues.

My L322 was awful compared to my much older Touareg. Land Rover design and build quality is shockingly bad for a car of this market position. The front subframe had extensive corrosion (I dealt with it but it was not good), all fastenings around the car were rusty, brake pipes corroded through.

I have to agree with the idea of galvanising a car that sits in the market place that it does. Audi & Porsche used to do this as standard. From what I've seen it's a simple dip treatment so could easily be added to the current process. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |
