To do this you need to test for continuity between left, right and ground from a jack cable plugged into the aux and the 4 wires beneath it. The one that isnt left, right or Ground is the Aux detect wire. Simply snip the aux detect wite and short it to the ground and hey presto.

The instructions are a little vague in places, i was constantly cross referencing across the two different sets I had been sent to find out most of what I needed to know..

I haven’t been able to get the WiFi side of it to work yet, the antennas are in but I cannot see anything to log into as yet.

I’m mostly going to use it wired anyway.

Is the factory mode settings in the base menu ?

I’ve done the track up and down, do you need to do the green and red phone buttons as well?

I thought of WhatsApping Steve but by that time I had the hump with them so sorted it myself. Just took longer  2011 4.4 TDV8

Yes in the same settings menu where you swipe right - you can also change the logo and a few other bits.

No need to learn the call answer and end - they work without learning.

Thanks very much for the information you’ve posted so far. Mine arrived on Monday this week (which was extremely quick) and I’ve pencilled in Friday for cleaning the blood off my fingers and launching the fuse board down the drive! I only received one set of instructions with the dip switches shown as 2&3 only set to down. That said, the unit arrived with 2,3 & 4 set to down. (Mine is a dual view)
Once again, very much appreciated on what you’ve passed on to us thus far, it will be a great help. Any further tips, tricks or faq’s very much welcomed.

Great news Dave, its definitely 2,3 and 4 to ON - mine is dual view too!! be careful to splice into the correct wires and if you have any issues whatsapp Steve or PM me and I’ll send you my number.

The layout of my foil circuit bard for inside the display unit was like these instructions.
I found reading both gave a better chance
The tip on removing the head unit from behind the fuse board without taking the fuse board out saves loads of time..

Good morning !!!

I did remove the fuse board the first time !!

When I had the 'no sound' issue the guy in Australia seemed more perplexed that I had removed the fuse board then trying to help me fix the fault !!

After that this is what I worked out....

When all the glove box. cd player and bottom trim to the glove box has been removed. if you look under the fuseboard (I had to remove the plastic heater pipe (its just one self tapper and it pulls off towards the passenger door) if you look up from under the fuse board there are two 10mm bolts, undo these and the head unit slides down and out. its fixed on a metal strip with two self tappers, you can then realise all the connectors and make all your solder connections. Saves so much time in removing the fuse board.

I placed the D4 main box just above the fuse box and secured it with a couple of cable ties. It fits just nicely there and can be removed at a later date if needed, i did square it off and it look much neater than this, this is a pic of my mock up to see if it would fit

I did find that in this position one of the clips that holds the fuse cover plate on doesn't quite fit but wasn't to worried I will adjust it to the side by a few mill if im ever in there again.



The Netplay box fitted nicely to the side of the fuse board and was once again secured with cable ties

I moved the trapped cable, don't worry !!

And the steering wheel control box I double sided taped and cable tied to the support bar


An overall shot before i tidied it all up and fixed it in for good


I found the positioning was mostly dictated by the main loom. Before I even went to the car i laid it all out all the supplied wiring on the kitchen table with all the relevant boxes and circuit boards in there approximate positions. I find it helps get a picture of the layout in my head

And I know have wireless connection!
Apparently although it’s a WiFi connection you have to sync your phone via Bluetooth (press the home button this takes you to the base menus outside of airplay)
At first the Bluetooth function was disabled as the phone was already connected via the Apple lead. ( blonde moment !)
So do this with your phone NOT plugged in.
after syncing via Bluetooth the wireless connection happens in the background (I confirmed this by looking in my phone at the WiFi connections) I didn’t have to do any other steps other than the Bluetooth sync. 2011 4.4 TDV8

My box full of bits has just arrived.
I have opened it, expecting to find some printed instructions, but nothing? Presumably the two PDF’s are all we get.

I can’t think about tackling it for a while because we are busy preparing for a pending house move, but I decided to buy it before they sell out.

It’s certainly good to know that this very helpful post is available because I am going to need all the help around.

Does this work on the single screen display?

When you order, you have to specify either Single or Dual view.
Mine is a Single view screen.
