Doubt it's the fuel.

First priority is get a HIGH pressure smoke test done. you may not be able to see a small crack just using your eyes.

Hi again! I popped the bonnet and started to look for obvious problems ...and there it was! The clip that holds the pipe onto the throttle body was not fitted correctly and the underneath of the hose was filthy with soot.
Took my time and removed the hose ,cleaned the hoses inside and out, electrical cleaner on the sensor . The butterfly valve was covered in about 4mm of black gunge, again took my time and cleaned it up ,I can see metal now.

When I put it back together I bent the clip back to a circular shape and when fitting the hose back onto the throttle body I used the tip from another thread and put some PTFE tape around the throttle body. I used the thick wide stuff . I found that wrapping it 3 times around gives a perfect fit. No problems refitting and is just about hand tight, with no slack movement.
That is all I am going to do to the car , hopefully it will help towards solving the problem.
I will ask for a high pressure smoke test when I source a mechanic next week...just found out Monday is a holiday so Tuesday it is.

exactly what happened to me aggraa.

Not sure you need a further smoke test....

What you can do is find a local garage that will remove and send your DPF off to be cleaned (assuming there is no nearby option of this).

. Cheers, Greg

At the moment I am full of optimism that I found the problem. Looking at other threads of how the red DPF came on ,I have similar circumstances.
From my village to the nearest town is 4km, pretty much all down hill until I reach the earthquake fault line, its a ridge about 25m high ,I then use this opportunity to exercise the 2nd turbo up the hill and then its a coast down into town. On the way home as I leave town I boot it up the hill...at this precise moment the red light came on, which leads me to believe it is/was a boost pressure problem .
thanks again for the tips
Aaron

I changed the oil in November , and service reset was done . Since then I have driven from UK to Bulgaria 1900 miles and since then maybe another 1000 miles . I was getting concerned about DPF issues as I couldnt drive anywhere due to lockdown. I needed a travel permit and a reason to be travelling to go further than the nearest town.

Usually I do the European journey 3-4 times a year ,so I thought I would never have a DPF problem due to the usage the car gets , but this year has been a bit different . With a bit of luck I could be able to do the drive around August time if I dont have to quarantine in UK .

United Kingdom

Hi everyone . Life in Bulgaria is not straightforward . I had a massive delivery of wood which blocked my car in the garden for a few weeks. Big beams 20x20x400 fresh heavy wood and 4m3 of decking. Been busy building and moving the forest out of the way.
Finally on Monday the transporter arrived and we headed off the mountain down to Blagoevgrad where the DPF guy was expecting me . We unloaded the car ,I showed him the dash with the red DPF warning and asked him to clean the DPF and clear any remaining codes etc.
Come back in 3 hours said the smiling guy, and off I headed into town, with a spring in my step , looking forward to the drive home later.
On my return ,as I walked up the driveway to the unit I saw my car still where we unloaded it , with the bonnet up.
The smiling guy said its taking longer than usual to reprogram the computer to remove the DPF and EGR ..I didnt know what he said , then he showed me my engine management on his bench with various wires soldered onto it .
After a very heated exchange of words , I was left in 36 deg heat with no access to shade or water for another 3 hours while he returned it to how he found it.
Got my car back and then drove to another garage on the other side of town left it outside and walked off in search of a hotel for the night.

Tuesday

Woke up early resembling a tomato after the previous days sunbathing, a quick shower and off to find my car.
Arrived at the garage 9 clock sharp , but they only carbon clean engines and not DPF.
He suggested he goes to the Bosch specialist and they work on it there ,returned an hour later with news of failure.
Luckily another guy I was talking to while I was waiting , made a phone call ...success!! a mechanic he knows , has all the kit but he needs to order the fluid , the delivery will be there 9am in the morning.
10 minutes later I am following a guy on his scooter to deliver my car and prepare for another night in the city.
As we left the city we seemed to be following the signs for techno truck service...promising .then we went past techno truck service into the mountains for a few kms. Met the mechanic , seemed confident and showed me the machine he was going to use . It will take him all day , he will stay until its finished 100% no problem.
Crazy pillion scooter ride back to the city , my new friend took me to his friends hotel and life was all good again.

Wednesday
Slept well , and just had to wait around all day for the phone call. The day really dragged ,as i was hotel bound, still avoiding the sun after Monday, So I spent the day on the internet rereading the DPF threads on this forum etc.
I was confident my intake leak was at the throttle body...but not confident my PTFE had fixed it.
And I think I have a solution for the bad green gasket problem without bodging or buying a complete unit.
The engine is a Ford unit
The throttle body is part number BC3Q-9F991DA fitted to Ford F 150 250 and F350 trucks as well as 2011-2014 Mustangs
A common problem with these cars is an induction leak
Cured by Ford OE AC3Z9E936A Fuel injection throttle body mounting gasket $4.94
I will be ordering one when i can get decent shipping.

9pm my new friend arrives at the hotel and shows me a picture of my cars dash 110mph 3500 revs 6th gear and no lights on the dash. Jump on the back of the scooter and off we go to collect .
The mechanic says all is well but the whole intake,EGR etc needs a good clean . He hasnt got time this week but cars good to go and only use Shell fuel in Bulgaria. The advice was take it easy to Predel , this is at the top of 30km drive up the steep mountain pass .
I jump in the car and head off home ,,my dogs have not been fed for 3 days and i need fresh clothes the temptation to floor it with no warning lights and full power was a a struggle.
I stopped at the edge of the city at a petrol station to put a bit of fuel to get me home and wash the bugs of the windscreen after the high speed testing.
I got back in my car started it up and DPF full red warning was back and limp mode.
Deflated and a bit shouty I got my car home slowly but running well .

Today
After coffee and a shave I popped the bonnet and was on a mission to take the donut off clean everything on top of the engine I could until I go back for the injector clean .
Took off the throttle body hose and the PTFE was black and a bit oily and not doing any kind of sealing job.
I tried 3 times wrapoing it a different way and then removing the hose to see how it was sealing...couldnt get it to work any way .
I am now going to order silicon hoses for the donut and the ford part number . fit them and then return to get the DPF EGR injectors cleaned and go from there . He will do a smoke test as part of his engine clean etc , just not enough time this visit.

Back to building the decking a waiting for the courier to arrive before the next update

Wow! That's quite the adventure and it would seem it's not over yet. I'm sure there are a few of us on here that will be watching to see if the Ford gasket is the same as the Range Rover throttle body one 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE
