Advanced Factors do the right oil grade to spec. Plus a generous discount at the moment. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I have used Smith and Allen ATF in a previous vehicle and had no problems.

The Shell fluid was developed to give the right static-to-dynamic friction characteristics for the torque-biasing and differential-locking clutch in the DD295. The range change synchronisers are also calibrated around this fluid’s friction qualities. Unless you’re absolutely sure that a replacement fluid has identical friction modifiers in it, you should stick with TF 0753 or you could seriously mess up the calibration. In my opinion your transfer box is better off with old correct fluid in it than new incorrect fluid. Although the correct fluid is ridiculously expensive, you only need 1.5 litres of it.

Just to be sure that there’s no confusion here.

Sorry. For some reason I thought you had a TD6 with the 5 speed GM box and transfer box.

I've just ordered transfer box oil and axle oils off Rimmer bros after a chat on the phone. Genuine land rover tf0753 and castrol SAF-XO. Expensive but a bit paranoid about what others have been using and somewhat conflicting advice. |
