Are we talking Tricky as in 6-8 hours but do-able on the drive?

or tricky as in - Do Not attempt this unless you have a degree from Harvard & Oxford Brooks and can juggle eggs while unicycling ?

It has to be worth the £250 odd to have a professional install it all and set it up properly. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

Speak with Prestige or Naviplus as someone was definitely talking about selling them in UK. I just cannot remember who. Not much help I know. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

Hi All,
I am interested to in an Apple Carplay Head Unit replacement or upgrade.
I have viewed both Navi's ( American and Aussie ), but prefer the Australian unit best.
Can you keep me posted on the results and any updates on suppliers, I am a Brit' living in the Dominican Republic to shipping to is the only option.

Thanks JP

So, after reading this thread and scouring the inter web I have decided to order one of these units from naviplus.
Ive asked them a few questions and they have been very helpfull

Im just waiting for their answer to a couple of other questions before I place my order...

At the moment they have confirmed that...

1. They can ship to the UK
2.You can operate the CarPlay system via the original touch display.

They have sent me the fitting instructions and although it looks a little scary they contain easy to follow pictures and quite do-able as long as one is methodical...
They also sent me instructions on how to remove the dash, the top and bottom glove box etc

I will sort a new thread Once things start to happen.

Oh my car is a 2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue with single screen.

Naviplus

I've recently installed Naviplus in my 2010 5.0 and have to say I'm really pleased with it.

The instructions they provide are 80-90% of what you need but there customer support was excellent at answering my questions and guiding me through the process.

Took me 4-5 hours all in and it's the first time I've taken a dashboard apart!

The system is fully touchscreen (unlike to Navtool for the 2010-2012 which uses a joystick), has full wireless and wired CarPlay (wireless is an extra) and steering wheel controls are also an extra but I think well worth having. ALSO very importantly to me ALL of the standard head unit functions remain available TV, 4x4, Dual View, DAB Radio and the reverse camera flips over automatically as soon as the car is put into reverse.

I've mentioned to the support guy that there may be other forum members interested so if you PM me I can give you the contact details of the guy I dealt with and he's promised a discount to any forum members although I think the amount may depend on which car model and options you buy.

I'll do a bit more of a writeup and hopefully a video in the next few days.

I'll try to answer any questions although my experience is limited to the 2010-12 model headunit.

I replied to your PM but for everyone else's benefit: Personally I went for the wireless option as it gives both capabilities - wired and wireless. You get two wifi antennas that go behind the dashboard with the wireless option.

I'm using it mainly wired as I tend to like to plug the iPhone in to charge it while driving. That said I like having the both and wanted to install it once - actually I'm not sure if wireless can be retrofitted.

Also and I think this reflects well on Naviplus's support - they've just sent me a firmware update which I haven't installed yet which is supposed to make the initial wireless connection more reliable - it can sometimes take a couple of goes as it connects by bluetooth then flips over to wifi. Once it is connected over wireless the screen display/audio quality have been top notch and I've not seen it drop the connection at all.

Also for those that use it Siri works very well on CarPlay.

Hope that helps.
