There are several threads on here that'll take you through the process, there's a certain pipe that has an offshoot pipe that is easily broken & is expensive to replace, but, just look back & there's loads of advice for you.

The little pipe is No3a in the link. Also look out for the connection at 3 as it can be difficult to remove of you haven't got a plier which is mad efor the job.

Make sure the 4 doughnut hoses are the updated thicker ones. These are the updated ones. Much thicker side walls than original ones. Original ones are thin as

Have recently done mine, it looks worse than it is. No 3 in the link the plastic fitting that clips into the bracket “crumbled” when I removed it & that bit only comes with the thermostat housing & associated pipes, anticipated 150 quid but turned out to be around £40 - inconvenient though also, as well documented, the piece going into top hose is delicate! Did the cooler gaskets not expensive & not difficult once your in there. Instructions in wiki just the job

I'm not sure of the name of the bit at 3a, but top hose comes to mind and if you speak to Advanced Factors Paul he'll soon set you right, (as I hope Duckworths would if you phone or email. Seems no point using the link on here as others have found).

Be very conscious that the open oil orifices exposed when the oil cooler is removed supply unfiltered oil to the rest of the engine, either directly or via the oil cooler and any contamination could result in a replacement engine being sought. Cleanliness is critical. |

I got my Viton seals for the rear pipe today so that jobs for tomorrow. Whilst I'm up close in the engine bay I'll see if that oil cooler is a current problem. Given it seems I'm likely to need additional parts before I tackle the oil cooler, I'll leave it till I'm confident I've got everything to hand. This car is my daily driver (well it was given the current situation!) |

Just done the two O Rings and yes its an easy but slighty awkward job, if that makes sense ? My only additional piece of advice is.... when trying to refit the insert into the casting i.e. "push it back in" with the new seals, do your best to keep the insert square onto the casting. Because the only puchase or grip you have is on a shaped and bent pipe its very easy to push at an "off" angle. Initially I got a bit worried I wasn't going to get it to fit but then pushing the pipe away from yourself at the same time pushing into the casting and "POP" it goes quite easily !
