No mechanic has anyone experienced this issue? And have they cured it?

How much is the crankshaft pulley dancing around? The rubber inserts in damper pulleys (not specifically the 4.4's) can deteriorate.

Have you worked from the workshop manual?

I haven't read that section but maybe there is something in there procedure-wise?

. Cheers, Greg

What was the problem that Craig highlighted years ago that causes the edge of the belt to rub , chaff and fail?
I will add it to this post if I can find it. Rolling with laughter Plenty of spare time to look for it now I am in over 70 forced lockdown.

The common problem is due to a worn tensioner and yours has since been replaced.
