And a firm in Harlow that will road test it and plug it in to see what fault codes are reported..

Is it me or am I just being fobbed off with people wanting to just guess and change parts to see if it fixes the issue? Ash

Update - Took it to an auto specialist over near Harlow and he couldn't really feel much by way of vibration.... So for now he said it's worth adding a tube of "Shuddderfix" and see how it goes.

He said if it is the TC the shudder etc will come back and at that point a new TC will be required. For now it has totally cured the shudder and it drives fine again (but I'll not hold my breath) Ash

I have used 'Dr Tranny Shudder Fix' in several sports and discos in the past and its amazing stuff... Normally get another 20k out of the torque convertor before needing to replace Thumbs Up

Ash I'm pretty sure the IID Tool will capture the data you need.

If you don't have one then you're welcome to head my way (maybe another shoot?) and we can plug in mine. You might need to buy another unlock code for your VIN (10s of pounds rather than thousands) to get the full diagnostic capability.

I'll try and remember to take a look in the morning to see if it can get the same data as what Phil showed. Ed

Sorry to pull up and old thread..... But I Have my shudder back again - 3 years down the line and 30k miles more on the clock.

It only tends to happen on light acceleration, when approaching 2,000 revs.

Interestingly I get shudder in Sport/command shift mode as well- I think I read that its not likely to be TC as there is no LUC going on in Sport..??

I’ll try to take IID readings under normal driving (if I can record it somehow) and post up here - tickover showed no real difference in injectors readings but it only seems to happen under some load.

I will check again for calliper sticking (rear only..?) to discount that.

Anything else I can check for?

As always - Massive thx to the forum.. Ash

Hi,
I’ve used LRS Engineering in gosfield ( Essex )
It’s not all that far from Chelmsford.
I’ve found them very helpful and honest.
They have worked on both my 4.4TDV8 and my P38 4.6.
(That’s if you have had no joy so far )

Andy

So I plugged IID in this evening to pull some values

I got the below on idle

But on revenge th energise they all just went to 1000 exactly- something seemed wrong there. Do I need to actually driving (rather than just raving in park) to get a value.?

Also - how true is the “you won’t get LUC judder in sport”..?

Thanks

Sorry chaps

Anyone able to comment on the use of Sport/command shift mode.. I still get the same shudder albeit at a slightly higher rev range - does this point to it not being the LUC.?

Also - Any idea how I use IID tool show the injector offset when driving - I want to see if any of the injectors are not working correctly when driving.?

Thanks Gang Ash

I had an oil and filter(sump) change less than 100 miles ago and had a loss of power and high revs going round a roundabout then was coming home from collecting the kids and got the judder until i eased off the power. Will ring the garage that did the job in the morning. Have they f@@ked my gearbox. Its a 8hp70 on a 4.4 tdv8.

Sorry for the delayed response.

I checked the callipers and none of them seem to be hotter than the others but its but i was by no mean scientific about it.

Is there an accurate way to diagnose it if it is the TC. I'm going to take it to Gratech in Maldon tomorrow but would be keen to know if they would be able to diagnose it rather than guess..

I don't really want them changing parts without knowing if it will fix it.

Any ideas?

Thanks gang

My sticking caliper was noticeable more at 50-70 and the heat generated was obvious in the alloy wheel. I could feel the heat on my hand without touching it. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue
