Tpms ??

If I put new wheels on without tpms and my old wheels had tpms would it show an error?

Does the warning on the dash not cause MOT failure? 2008 Vogue Black - gone

No idea as not MOT’d it. I only know about the warning as I have two sets of wheels and tyres. Would have thought it was likely to cause a fail though - May depend on your examiner though.... 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Any car registered after 1st January 2012 that is fitted with TPMS will fail its MOT if the TPMS warning light is displayed.

As much as I don’t care for the tpms. I don’t think I would want to live with a warning light on all the time.

What’s the recommendations? Swap old units from existing wheels to new or order a new set?

Does the car definitely have TPMS ? If you lower a pressure you get a warning on the dash ?

I can't remember when it became compulsory - mine doesn't have it, but I have one set of wheels with sensors & another without.

If your car has TPMS, then you can get the sensors swapped over at a tyre place - then rebalanced - or buy an additional set of sensors - depending what you're planning for the old wheels.

Alternatively - you might be able to turn TMPS & hence the error message, off using an IID tool

Alistair. Yes the car definitely has it. I did a bit of research yesterday and it seems you can’t disable the tpms with a IID tool.
I think I will just swap to the new wheels.

I was able to disable TMPS with IID on my L322 but suspect you can't on later L405's.

It seems it became a mandatory feature on Jan 1 2015, so I guess you'll need sensors - it will fail the MOT otherwise

Ok so it seems I’ve got to stick with tpms as don’t want a light up and apparently 13 or later cars can’t be disabled.

My second dilemma is...... any recommendations of where to get tyres fitted & balanced? I’m thinking somewhere like kwik fit where they’ve got all the latest machines.

GAP do provide a un-tested ccf list on request and i'm not 100% sure but you might be able to switch it off with that.. ... - .- -.
