Stan,
Is it both sides that don’t work ?
If it’s like the 322 it has separate feeds from the relay to LHS and RHS.

yes both sides dont work and yes there are 2 relays as in the L322 Mike.....

its under warranty but the dealer says that they charge £175 as a diagnostic fee and if its the screen then i lose that amount and if its electrical then i dont as the warranty will pay for it.

hence my efforts to see which is which.... ... - .- -.

Hi Stan
How can it be anything but electrical? The screen is two pieces of glass with an element in a membrane. The element connects to power via a switched relay so how can the screen become "the cause"???
Is the screen broken/cracked?
Confused

Stan

FYI I had the same problem with one half of my 2012 Range Rover Sport Screen it was under Land Rover Approved Used warranty and Car Care Plan paid for a new genuine screen.

You need to find a nicer main dealer who doesn't rip you off with diagnostics charges, there are some out there who don't charge!

i dont know if its the screen or the electrics feeding the screen, but thats a good call re trying another dealer.. Thumbs Up

@huw, theres one small stone chip on the drivers side and if that was the cause then the passenger side would work, unless both sides have filament damage .. ... - .- -.

In my area, Grange do sometimes and Lookers don't.

Why are they not covering glass under warranty? Is it an extended warranty?

I imagine the stone chip could very easily cause the fine filament to break if it's deep enough. I'd be worried the glass may well crack completely if it were that deep and then you'd have to change it anyway.
I'd get the local windscreen company to have a look as the Indy glass guys are usually a good bunch. They'll know where to look and won't charge anything like what LR dealerships will. They'll also tell you if it's legal to drive with the deep chip that you have.
Very Happy

The wiring for the 2 sides of the heated front screen is from a junction box in the engine bay .The relay is common to both sides and after that the 12 v feed splits into 2 , each of which is protected by a 40amp fuse . I suppose you could use a test meter in these points ( with the engine running ) . If there is no 12V at the relay then its down to the switch itself or the body control module . If there is 12v at the fuses then its the screen or more likely the connection to it . If you have a diagnostic then you will be able to see the BCM go live ?
