What was that smoke???

Hi
I pulled negative to measure amps drewn from battery.
The ignition was on engine not running.
As i took negative out smoke came from under the negative side of the battery for 10 15 seconds.
After that all was ok car started ok.
Why did it smoke?? 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.

Regardless of; the year, make or model of vehicle; NEVER disconnect the car battery while the engine is running or the ignition key is turned on. Disconnecting the car battery can create; a high voltage spike in the electrical system; that may damage electronic modules.

Yes it was a mistake to pull while ignition was on.
Other than that it was pulling 0.2amps which was ok i guess. 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.

Smoke is what makes components work. Usually if smoke escapes from a component it rarely works again and needs replacing Very Happy Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
