By way of contrast, a friend of mine has a vogue 405. Age wise it is a couple of years old, 3 at most.
In his words, it has every light on the dash on (sometimes all at once) but just keeps going. The LR dealer have had it so many times and can't figure out what is going on to fix it, but since it keeps going and its not mechanical he just keeps using it.
He doesn't have a back up car either  Too many toys, not enough time

I've got a Massey Ferguson 152 and a bicycle. Although MOH won't let me ride the bicycle because she thinks I'm too doddery for it.

Always had a spare car, most of the time more than one! Not really a reflection on Land Rover or 4X4 ownership but more to do with always being skint and an unwillingness to sink large amounts of money into my transport. Wifey gets to drive something new and reliable, think most married men can relate to this... life is peachy if Wife is happy? I enjoy buying and fixing up stuff, pig in poo and a great feeling of satisfaction in helping the planet by recycling rather than bringing another car into the World. Always turn a profit when it comes to sell and I get the choice of some cool older vehicles... currently using an old Volvo T5 as my daily with a £150 Beetle as back up.

Depends what you're doing with it, if I were crossing Africa, towing a lot or using it off road a lot I'd pick the Toyota any day, for driving around the UK I'd pick the RR, I know its going to break and be expensive sooner or later but to actually drive there's no getting away from it's a much nicer place to be.

Not really spare as such, the 322 does the family duties when I’m driving.

‘97 M3 for when it’s dry, so it’s covered in dust at the mo....

I have a Hyundai Tucson as the back up. Its reliable and tows the caravan to where it needs to go in order to keep SWMBO sane when we go away at weekends. I am still in the process of ironing out the niggles in the Fatty to make it reliable such as the cooling system, entertainment system and and transmission which are the areas of concern that have sprung up in place of the brakes and LPG system are now pretty much sorted.

Then I read your footer, and realised its a 65 plate.

Yes John, absolute POS.....

Already had a clutch at 38K just yesterday threw it’s toys out of the pram on the drive. All the warnings. Had to read codes have a fiddle with the coil packs and reset! Also one of the output shaft bearings is going on the diff. Whines.

Fortunately I done have to drive it, so the “niggles” don’t bother me. It’s going in the new year in favour of something more robust! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My daily is a Freelander 2
When that's out of action, or away with a customer, I've a TD5 90

If that's not playing ball, I have a 1.8 Freelander (running 200bhp)

And being a K series, even that needs a back up, so there is also a Fabia VRS kept handy

My backup is Discovery 2 - TD5 ....... so when L322 gearbox finally went, (and then the alternator and abs ecu in quick succession), all was ok!

Until ......

1 week after the L322 was finally sorted, the discovery gearbox also went south

£4,500 later I’ve got two running again .... but no money.
