Keep it or the new one you want and just use Mikey - sounds like he knows how to handle the warranty companies in addition to his knowledge and reputation.

I remember wanting a new C350 8 years ago, the sales guy literally wouldn’t let me test drive one and kept asking me if I knew how much it was to insure one!? When I asked another sales guy he said the cars had just been washed so unless I was buying today a test drive wasn’t possiable I was gob smacked.

I should add prior to all this in 2008 I had a new Seat Leon FR at 16k and the dealership couldn’t do enough for us, regular updates collected and delivered it for all the services at £200 a throw. Amazing. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

So I had a look Mikey - see here: https://landrover-extendedwarranty-extend-...cument.pdf The booklet says that my bushes would be under MOT Insurance not warranty as such.....but why did Service not explain this......I mean all this mess would not have happened had they just said this!!! I had plenty of time to wait and get this done had they told me I had this cover!! I'm totally raging!!! On the flips side, hubs look like they are not covered either, so tbh I think the warranty is pretty pointless to be in this one. Guess I'll be paying for a hub then as cant see them ever seeing my point!! all smug in my new plug! 2021 Westminster Black D300 2013 Vogue SE - gone Some Porsche Cayenne guff pretending to be a 4x4!! 2006 Vogue 2004 Vogue 2001 Vogue |

I think we just accept it as the norm now as it’s not a new thing? ![]() The problem is, we as consumers are driving down the profit because we are more likely to shop around leverage the internet to ensure we are getting the best deal possible etc. Dealers are no longer selling cars at RRP, I suspect they rely on finance deals, manufacturer rebates and doing simple servicing at outrageous prices especially for businesses who don’t query the costs.... none of which really involves looking after people that well? LR give you this warranty when you buy used approved but essentially it’s no different to any other after market warranty |

My philosophy for many years now is to use a good Indy & pay for whatever needs doing.

My advice is, your money is better spent on this, rather than a warranty. It has really helped keep my old TD6 on the road from a replacement fuel pump to new front suspension struts.

That's a fair point - if you have an above average probability of (successfully) claiming, then a warranty likely makes sense |

Dealers don’t make money (or very little) on selling cars, the margins come from all the extras/options and accessories people buy like finance, insurance, coatings, PPF, mud flaps, mats, mjackest and umbrellas etc and the real gravy train is the workshop and spares department. When ever a tech gets your car on the lift and can find extras that mostly take very little time to replace like pads, Tyres and exhausts etc because the car is in the air and wheels off already so a good % of the work is already done but they still charge for this Labour, so you pay twice... the tech can then make a bonus and the vast majority of the profit is pocketed by the dealer. Parts have big margins especially accessories.
