Arrrrrrrrrrrghh ![]() ![]() I dont care whether you use the scenario of three identical Trabbants, Supercharged Range Rovers or even F1 cars, if the one in the near side lane only just stops before rear ending the stationary car in front of it, the identical car in the middle lane IS going to hit its resepctive stationary car and the one in the outside lane IS going to hit its corresponding stationary car at 78MPH ![]() ![]() Now I'm no speed junkie or politically correct "Tree Hugger" BUT the point is very valid and I cant believe I am typing this whilst trying to watch the footy ![]() SWMBO: 22MY Defender 110 HSE X Dynamic, Gondwana Stone. You should have just enjoyed your game! I'm sure nobody missed that point that if the cars were identical...blah blah. I was making a different point, which was that if they want people to take the propaganda seriously, they need to use real facts, not BS. The fact that there may be some older cars on the road, using older technology does not change this. There are also vintage cars on the road sometimes, however it doesn't mean that the highway code should still encourage use of arm signals. Legislation and the highway code should be based on the current average reality, not exceptions, not the lowest common denominator. I guess if you're in a crap enough car maybe there is no safe speed, or adequate braking distance, there always has to be a disclaimer that distances are the minimum, and may need to be varied according to road conditions, condition of car, loads being carried, towed etc. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining! |

Not as simple as that though. The amount of rubber on the road is proportionally larger. Coupled with the tech the RR has actually makes it stop rather well. Oh and the rear has discs vs family cars still have drums on rear wtf is that about!? Don't get me wrong, the RR is a heavy old thing, but if you've ever panic braked and felt the EBA kick in it really is amazing how quickly it stops. ![]() |

Maybe I'mm missing the point of the scenario but to me it's flawed from the outset as the crash etc is not down to excessive speed as the scenario could be at any speed:-

On a LR experience the guy did a demo drive on road. At 1 point he stood on the brake pedal whilst swerving violently from left to right. The car electronics took over and it stopped in unbelievably short distance. I thought my eyes were going to pop out.

Bearing in mind the 2010+ will do all the braking down to 18mph for you ...... just try it |
