IID tool "operation Failed E7" -brakes into mainte

If any folk on here have an IID tool and a L405 - have you ever had this error message if you try to set the parking brake into maintenance mode so you can change the rear pads?

"Operation failed E7"

- just to be clear I mean the IID tool giving the error message NOT the car.

thanks.

When I asked about E7 for the FBH, Gap said it just meant that the FBH didn't accept the command so possibly the same thing, the ABS ECU hasn't accepted the command you sent it. Current: RR L322 2010

We’ve got to the bottom of this. The EPB must be off before selecting the Maintenance/ service option on the IID Tool. Then it’s all fine and dandy. Razz

So what is E7 in relation to testing the FBH then? That’s what I’m currently trying to do. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Seen a few people here refer to IID tool. Isn't it an expensive tool ?

@jackcramer

I understand it is now @ £150 to put your FFRR into a main dealer to just have your codes read / diagnostics, and that is before any work is done (although they will ensure your car gets scratched by the handwashers later...

Now that is expensive.

An IIDTool (or similar) will pay for itself again and again over the lifetime of your ownership of an FFRR if you want to fix it yourself .

Not sure if I can fix things as it is a complex vehicle. Most I can do is a service and brake change.

So a off the shelf OBD scanner won't do?

AFAIK a scanner will read fault codes.

An IID will read fault codes, but will also allow you to make changes to the CCF (Car Configuration File)
