If you unplug the EGR, the ECU will identify it and you will get a fault. So either leave it plugged in or plug in emulators instead of the EGRs. ______________________________

My 2007 model has been playing up a bit and I don't know if the EGR is at fault.

Car has a remap from a previous owner and I don't think the EGR's were deleted. The reason is that before the last service the EML light would come on and the code was for the Gas re-circulation valves, so the indy I use suggested he fill the fuel filter with fuel additive when he changed it to clean the system. It worked and ive not had the light come back on.

The last few months though, when the car is warm it sometimes hunts when accelerating, often up a hill. Now a google search suggests the torque converter but i'm not convinced, especially with the past history of my egr's.

My question is, if it is the EGR's on the way out would the blanking kit fix the issue or would i need to have them mapped out as well?

Yeah, i hadn't considered the lack of CO2 for plants and trees, but you are right. Really annoys me, all this crap.

In general, I agree with most of what Grofus & ur20v say.

If NOx dissipates after a short time then surely, in the case of HGV's it would be better if they ALL had exhaust stacks so it can do no damage whilst it is harmful ?

Many large fleets have trialled LPG & it's variants and results are varied.

I have yet to meet an experienced diesel engineer who has a good word to say for DPF's and the associated emissions equipment.

Those that think regeneration is a good idea need to experience an HGV that has gone into regeneration - increased idling speed (using fuel) smoke you would not believe, a disgusting smell and dire health warnings (in the handbook) to make sure the vehicle is in the open and you keep at least 2m away from it until it returns to normal !
Just how this can be good for peoples health and the environment is beyond me.

I won't comment on AdBlu (well, not at the moment anyway).

Lets face it, if the people that design & research diesel engines had been allowed to "get on with it" without the tree huggers interference we would have diesel engines that would be far, far more efficient that the present ones in terms of fuel consumption.

In any case, natural replacement (especially with the bigger fleets - of all vehicle sizes) means that the percentage of "cleaner" vehicles will rise meaning that the "knee-jerk must get older diesels off the road" reactions are largely unnecessary.

BTW - most Euro VI HGV's are all auto's these days - manuals are (if even available) special order.

Here's a thought - Next time you see a temperature controlled Class I HGV with a Euro VI engine in the prim mover ask yourself about the diesel engine powering the temperature control equipment ? 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I was messaging the owner of Alive Tuning two weeks ago and he said I should refit the EGRs? Mine is already remapped including digital EGR deleted but I didn’t know about this until longer after I’d bought the car, by which time I’d mechanically deleted the EGRs.
I don’t think it’s a great map as it runs nice and quiet to start with but then gets noisy as it’s warming up. I get anything from 12 to 26 mpg on the exact same runs every day so it’s all over the place. It sounds like a transit when accelerating so Alive suggested putting it back to standard to see how it runs then. BAS had a look at the map via IID tool and said it was a “reasonably well done” map and said I didn’t need theirs which was honest of them. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
