top timing chain covers, i wasn't happy with ether of them, had to take the left one off and put it back on a gain to get it in line

I think there is screw you can remove from the front upper timing covers which enables you to check the timing against the cam trigger wheel but don’t know if it can be done with the top cam covers on or even if it is correct what I’m saying. I know the screws in question but don’t know the procedure , that is a lot of don’t knows I appreciate .

After reading a lot of those posts, I have come to the conclusion that the position of the crank has nothing to do with it.

I think the crankshaft position sensor determines the rpm of the engine, not sure what else it does.

The Chinese set i had were modified by the previous owner as they were in the wrong place so he used a known good set to set the timing wheels and then moved the arm of the wrong set to match the engine and then fixed it in place. the actual locking blocks were ok, it was the trigger whel jig that was wrong on one bank.

If I had to guess I would say bank 2 or right hand as looking at the front |

Glad you are sorted I have big hands and managed to screw the nylon wingnut on with the filter box removed. Your hands must be like shovels |
