Steering column motor failure

Got my first problem with my SC today. Got out of the car and the steering column just dropped! The steering wheel adjust no longer works going up or down. Left and right is fine. I can still hear the motor when trying to adjust it up and down. It's like it has disconnected from the motor. The column also doesn't lock into a position so it freely moves up and down. Hopefully should be covered under warranty after reading that most of the steering is covered. But just in case it ain't any ideas on cost so I can prepare myself or if this has happened to anybody elses ffrr. Easy or hard job

I don't like it when its broken Sad

cheers

I had mine replaced under warranty a few weeks ago. Mine would go in and out but not up and down. They told me it cost them nearly £700ish Shocked to replace the whole thing.
Hopefully you'll get it sorted under warranty FFRR TD6 HSE

hi, its the plastic clip on the motor, it has gone on my one but the in and out, there a few post on how to repair it as you cant buy the plastic bit on its own come attached to the motor...not a hard repair and is done with cable ties but can be quite tight... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Well I ain't paying mega bucks to get it fixed. It's at an indy so I may just ask them to cable tie it!

It a pain in the rear when things go wrong.

sorry, they wont do that for sure, will class it as unsafe.. you are going to need to jump up and down and start shouting that it needs to be done under warranty, how long have you had the car V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Just over 3 months. Have extended cover for 12 months. It should be covered from the list of things covered. Haven't got the booklet on me so can't remember exact list of things.

sounds like it should be covered.
I think they intially tried to repair mine, but had no luck. It was bust when I bought it but was clueless with Range Rover so only picked up on the problem after a few weeks of ownership. Was good they fixed it. FFRR TD6 HSE

It would have to be the only part of the car they doesn't get used. Dont think me o the wife have ever actually moved the wheel as we both use the same seat and wheel settings. Hopefully should hear later today what the problem is.

Cheers

So today the garage rings me to say that I need a new steering column. Near on £950!!!! Shocked

Rang warranty company and was told that the steering column is covered unless it broke due to wear. Appearently it's some kind on Metal plate thats broke but that can't be bought separately so new column it is. Left garage to confirm details with the warranty company etc. ... Haven't heard anything since so I assume it's fine and covered. Fingers crossed

fingers crossed the warranty pays, if they do, ask for the old column back after the repair and take it away with you...dont let them have it... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

That figure of £950 is an exchange for the old column. Was told it would be about £1600 for a new unit. Went to the garage first found out the prob then contacted the warranty people to make a claim.

Hopefully no news is good news as I'm sure the garage will ring me if the warranty company don't wanna pay up as there know I ain't happy about this big pay out.

I got into mind and turned tnhis ignition on and the wheel nealy chopped my legs off, was fine as soon as I turned ignition off, but as soon as I turned if off, down it went again and again

Just had mine done under warrant, and apparently whilst they do it, they are under instructuions from Land Rover to replace the seat module at the same time, please dont ask me why, it's just what I was told
