Yeah

But it's not as much as you think, it's a hollow cone. So you're drilling a hole at the top until it's right through to allow it to breathe.

Right, that's it sorted...

Cut out either side of the hole, pushfit straight through adaptor to fix.

Thanks all.

Haven’t tested it properly yet lol.

I started the car and went from access to normal and then back down to access and I must admire it did lower faster than it has since I’ve owned it.

So fingers crossed.

Off out for a meal tonight so more testing. But I really hope so.

Thing I find strange is my car is late 2011 and if this part was modified from Land Rover I would have thought the later cars would come with the hole in already. Regards

2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

Our 08 TDV8 is going to have its second compressor fitted tomorrow. First one (hitachi) was replaced under warranty and an AMK put in (with software changed) in 2014. This time the fault thrown up is the front crosslink valve fault and gallery not loosing pressure. This led us to the compressor exhaust not letting air out.
Rather than mess around for ages I thought we would put another compressor in and be done with it. Island 4x4 were 630 inc VAT and no need to return the old compressor. Daft though as the compressor works really well...it’s just the exhaust bit. '96 Volkswagen Polo 1.4CL - SOLD

Gallery not losing pressure was my error.

Drill the exhaust. Best part of £900 saved.

So are we just bodging it by drilling the exhaust / silencer? Regards

Not really. It’s blocked. It’s a silencer. it’s blocked over time. You can take it off by unscrewing it and soak it in Petrol etc or use an air line and see if you can get the crud out, but it’s far easier to drill it and it won’t block again.

You used to be able to buy an new exhaust but not sure if you can now.

To prove it’s your issue, unscrew it and remove it. See if the car works fine.

Theoretically it will sound noisier with pump running, but I’ve not noticed mine.

Another 2011 here , had problems lowering shortly after I got it , removed silencer and cleaned it , helped but not perfect , 3 mm hole in end and no issues in last 3 years , if the silencer gets blocked (moisture causes corrosion to build up) then air doesn't escape fast enough , ecu then sees it's not dropping quick enough and thinks the car is sat on an obsticle and then jacks it back up and starts throwing a wobbly , if in doubt remove silencer for a week and see what happens , if all ok drill a hole in the end (it's fairly thick) and refit silencer .
