3 Button Key

Any recommendations on where to get my 3 button key refurbished? The rubber switch covers have gone.

I tried the Ebay route, and got a quality blank one, but nobody wants to cut it.

Suggestions, (preferably in the southeast?)

Many thanks

Have you tried Timpsons?

They complain but normally are franchised so will do it for a picture of the queen.

Tried all the Timpsons in the area, every single one says no.

On the above post, alas my 3 button key is not the flip one, its the other one (02-07) which he says he doesn't do!!

Any other suggestions? Previously......

Got the same issue.
Just had a quote from a local independent of £220+ Shocked

I did find someone in North London a few years back. I'll try and dig out the details and let you know. Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

Timpsons did mine - about a year ago - you need to be nice to the guy!! If it's a definite no then can you not just swap over the innards?

If you are really clever it's surprisingly easy to remove the metal key from your old keyfob, remove the metal blank from your replacement key and then refit your old key into the new fob. Thumbs Up Saves a great deal of money.

How can you remove the blade? Mine seems to be moulded into one half of the key? Previously......

I cut mine out with a craft knife but now I know how they are fitted I would drill it out nextime.
This is what the end of the key looks like.

The key is 46.5mm long, the hole centre is 3.5mm from the end.

I'll leave you to work it out. Thumbs Up

Just a thought, as the key is metal and the old fob case is plastic why not just use a blow torch on it and burn the plastic leaving the metal key. Very Happy

I ditched the old keys from my 2003 L322 and upgraded to these "flip" keys.

Interesting, but I was under the impression that this type of upgrade to the flip-style couldn't be done for the 2007 models Sad
Or that's certainly the impression I'd got from the various posts on the forum? Happy to be proved wrong though Thumbs Up Life is what happens while youre making other plans.
