Thanks, I forgot to mention I cleaned the engine bay down too with some degreaser, it was already pretty much spotless from when I changed the battery last month, but doesn't hurt to keep it clean, I'll get some pics of that tomorrow when I dress the plastics. Thumbs Up 2006 Mercedes CLS

Hi Guys

What's the best way to clean the engine/engine bay (bearing in mind the reputation for LR electrics)?

Not sure of the "reputation" you're referring to. Things have moved on from the dark days of Lord Lucas.

Either way - by hand is the answer regardless of car. You can use a low pressure hose if you really want. My valet guys use a watering can to get the lowest water pressure possible when rinsing off to avoid forcing water anywhere.

This is what I used on my engine bay..

Surefex HD
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/surfex-hd-al...p?cPath=48

Spray it on, leave it for 5 mins, agitate with a stiff brush like this...
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/valet-pro-ch...Path=25_30

Then rinsed it all off with the jet wash switched off, that way you get a nice fine mist with very little pressure, and once dried, wiped over with some of this..

I'll get some pics of the 'bay when it stops raining. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Hi Dan
Thanks for the confirmation, I thought it would be best to keep as dry as possible, but thought I'd maybe ask the obvious question.

Hopefully, if it's dry next week, I'll give the car a full clay bar then machine polish, anyone got any recommendations for a very light cut?

I was looking at this pad...

With this compund

Then finishing with this pad and sealant
