Something I came across... Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency email spam says:

New MOT standards improving our air quality
Following changes to the MOT test on 20 May 2018, more than 744,592 cars have failed the emissions test.

The cars have either been taken off the road or fixed, helping to improve air quality.

This compares to 350,472 cars failing the emissions test during the same period in 2017.

Are you all aware what the E24 emmision limit marker is ?

On your L322 chassis plate or slam panel (or anywhere on other makes of cars) is a small square with a number in it

My TD6 is 2.03

This is LOWER than the MOT stated limit but it is the limit my vehicle exhaust gas has to be tested to as it is a manufacturers stated limit

Many vehicles have manufacturer limits way lower than MOT limits - it is no surprise that vehicles are failing their emmission test

Yes, people are aware of this. That's why I said 'my' limit, not 'the' limit. There's no evidence at all that people are failing on EGRs, the article itself even just mentions increases being down to smoking and DPF's.

Out of interest I just rechecked my last emission test, and I was actually only just over 40% of my limit, so again, unless they can see through plastic, or your car has a serious issue, it seems incredibly unlikely

I find it surprising that not only can eBay turn a profit out of blatantly disabling emissions control measures, but that this site should readily include information and recommendations on how to do it.

The often quoted “defence” that a people are unlikely to be caught by the MoT seems no more valid for this than committing any other offence.

Surely if blanking the EGRs makes the vehicle emissions no worse,probably run better,what is the problem with that? If it passes the test,whether or not the delete can be seen,it is totally irrelevant.

I think the site recognises common faults on the RR and allows fixes and remedies to be posted and not to flaunt the law
A lot of owners have older vehicles thar need a lot of maintaining so any thing that can reduce this is welcome by me .
On a personal note if my egrs fail and destroy the turbos then that car is finished because it's cheaper to buy a different vehicle .
Since blanking off the egrs I now have a FF that does not blow out a black smoke clould when accelerating hard so the engine is running cleaner , mpg is up by about 2.5 mpg somewhere about a 10% increase so the car runs better and cleaner and hopefully costs less to maintain, all positives and if it's illegal the process is easily reversible
Would be nice to see people being positive about this site which helps 1000's of owners maintain there vehicles to a high standard on a low budget

100% agree. I'm not that bothered either way if people want to do it or not, was more frustrated by the need to argue the morality of it on a useful how-to thread.

Ironically you've managed to solve a definite MOT fail by causing an unlikely one, seems sensible to me!

Spot on Henda that's why its not worth the effort at times trying to help, there's always a google mechanic/lawyer on hand and probably who use the MD to look after the car and have money to burn or don't care. It works and helps so im happy along with hundreds more and safe to say it wont scrap the turbo or engine potentially  _____________________________________________________

Here's an update
So with over 300 miles covered I went out this morning and gave the FF a right blasting red lining the engine and here's my findings
No eml
No smoke on start up
Steady tickover ( no hunting )
Engine quieter and smoother
No hesitation when pulling off
No black smoke
Better fuel economy around 2.5 mpg better
I then plugged in the idd tool
No faults on egrs
No faults on injectors
Both of which I had previously
Live readings on egr valves - working but steady at 4% if that makes sense
Also the occasional restricted performance after hard acceleration is now gone
So for me at the moment this seems to have cured a few faults
So it's a
