Westfalia detachable tow hitch

Are there two bolts holding this badboy in place?
I've removed the outer bolt, but judging by this pic, there might be another?

Lots of penetrating oil and hammering, but it'll just move a few mm outwards, and stop. Moves with little persuasion up and Down, but not out.

Seems to be only one.. Guess I'll just need a bigger hammer.

Agreed

On ours one bolt, the cut out on the end is for a locating lug as far as I can see. +1 on regular removal/clean/lube of parts. Cheers

I have had much better results using Plugas, WD40 is very good for lubricating etc but for freeing off seized parts it cant be beaten.

I've only owned the car for a week, so re-lubricating the tow bar was on the to-do list. Obviously a few years to late.
The aluminium latch on the back of the swan neck was corroded through, and crumbled.
Think I'll just order a replacement.
Still have to get the square out, though.

Is there a proper plastic plug that can be fitted in the square receiver? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

There is a square one with the LR logo.
Part number KYB000011, or ANR3196
Not sure what the difference is.

Ours was similarly stuck. Try as I might, I couldn't get it out over a period of many weeks lubricating it and hammering it.

Eventually, got it up on a ramp where it required two oxy torches and a very fit mechanic with a very big sledge hammer to get it out.

Since then, I've kept it greased Smile

The slot in the removable part isn't for a bolt, but lines up with a pin permanently welded into the tube which locates the front end, stops it being pushed in too far and shares the over-run load with the bolt.
If you look into the tube, you can see it.

I believe it's a 24mm.
I had to use a breaker bar with a 2ft pipe on to break it loose. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway
