I have had much better results using Plugas, WD40 is very good for lubricating etc but for freeing off seized parts it cant be beaten.

I've only owned the car for a week, so re-lubricating the tow bar was on the to-do list. Obviously a few years to late.

Is there a proper plastic plug that can be fitted in the square receiver? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Ours was similarly stuck. Try as I might, I couldn't get it out over a period of many weeks lubricating it and hammering it.

The slot in the removable part isn't for a bolt, but lines up with a pin permanently welded into the tube which locates the front end, stops it being pushed in too far and shares the over-run load with the bolt.
