I'm going with secure storage, or let your Dad use it while you are away. Best to keep these things running Thumbs Up 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

I thought about secure storage - but around here I haven't found anything. I have several colleagues who leave their cars in specialist secure storage when they are sea and was surprised at how little it costs when you leave a car for 3-4 months at a time. I have access to a sort of secure storage -it's where I keep my Defender, but at the moment there is no room there. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Big I was in Audi Stirling yesterday and they had a Q5 in the showroom and a whole load of used/ pre-reg cars outside and I'm sorry but I think it is an awful thing - I would sooner have an Allroad. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Thinking that someone is following your posts thru this forum Tim if that's the second attempt at stealing your pride and joy
Myself if I could find out the actual release date and spec of the Evoque I would go for one of those

I would go for home security. What's to stop somebody stealing an Evoque from your garage? Especially if you're away. If thieves have targeted your home, and if they're determined, garaging the car won't put them off.

Maybe go for a really good security system, CCTV, central station monitoring, etc, and keep the FFRR! After all if your house is vulnerable to thieves surely it's more than your car you should be concerned about! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Tim why not just swap the defender with the FFRR when you are away with work ?

Defenders are much sought after by crooks and would be an easier target than a FFRR to remove from the driveway

Hi Tim..I ordered a 3 door Evoque last November for delivery this September...Not sure if its really my thing but Fiona loves it!!! I think it will easily do 80% of what your FFRR can do just now and for the other 20% you have your Defender Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

If you are really worried about leaving the FFRR when you are away I would be more than happy to let you park it here until you get things sorted out.

Tboner - widthwise yes a Defender will fit into a standard garage, unfortunately most garages are still don't have high enough garage doors to let them in - in fact you cannot get a Defender into 90% of the nation's multistorey carparks as they set the entry barriers low to deter commercial vans parking in them.

Jim, thanks for the offer - the car's security isn't in question - the crooks broke into the house looking for the car keys so they could overcome the LR security system easily. I never leave my car keys in the house when I go away, even while I am travelling in the UK for a few days.

Evoque - have you gone for the diesel or the petrol? I'm wondering if with my 10k miles a year and the Evoque being a lighter car whether it would make any difference for residuals if I went for a petrol rather than a diesel. I'm currently thinking along the lines of an Evoque Dynamic Coupe ,2.0ltr Turbo with autobox 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

My Defender fits in my garage at home and it has an external roll cage and roof spots. Mind you it would touch the top of the frame if I were to ever over-inflate my tyres as there is 10mm approx spare! Shocked

James Thumbs Up
