On a serious note if you want a really good small (dimensions) 4X4 the VW Tiguan is excellent. I bought one for the wife and she adores it. |

Local Audi dealer has offered an A6 Allroad for 24 hours....................... drove an A6 TDi 3.0ltr S-Line quattro yesterday - beautifully built but BORING and expensive - you bet, basic spec is very basic, even heated folding mirrors are an extra and there isn't even a heated front screen on the options list.................. I wish LR would hurry up and give a few details of the Evoque - LPR know how long and and how high it will be but they don't know the width! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

That's easy James - Stornoway with tan leather, panoramic roof and everything else on the options list that will bring the price up to the value of a used FFRR! Problem is 3 or 5 doors? 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

If you don't need 5 doors for the folks then go for 3 door as that is how it was intended. Interestingly there are no bonnet vents on the 5 door.

Take it you have an up and over door on the garage have you considered having a roller shutter type door this will allow removal of all the timber frame as they are fitted either inside or outside the opening leaving the brickwork opening clear. |

I know this isnt really the answer to your question - but have you seen the security bollards? You can get remote ones that pop out.

I used to have one and replaced it with a rather nice varnished herring bone pattern motorised wooden one coz the roller one I had looked cheap and horrible with opaque fibre glass panels and it continuously jumped off its tracks - I was very surprised that when one of my neighbours heard I was taking the old door off they bought it from me for spares for theirs which was falling to pieces too!! Dan I would have to line those bollards up all round my garden as where I live is open plan landscaped gardens and just a couple of those wouldn't stop thieves driving off the drive and over the gardens - would be just too easy in a FFRR even with road tyres on! One year when I was windsurfing out on Tiree we met a guy who had a very good anti theft device for his Ford F150 Pick-up. We asked him why the windows were always misted up and he left it with the engine running all the time......... and he showed us - he had a 2m long pet Boa Constrictor and it went on holiday with him but it had to be kept warm! Interesting how the key hunters got into the house without breaking the double glazed french window panel......... a crowbar into the door seal and levered it off the frame far enough to pop the shoot bolts and lock out from their keepers on the frame............... mind you the closure that has been fitted to keep it closed at the moment is very very simple and extremely effective and makes the door impossible to open without smashing the double glazed unit. I will be asking for the same thing to be fitted on the replacement door frame when it is delivered. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |
