There are holes pre drilled on the chassis to take side steps, the plastic covering is irrelevant and stays put. |

It is a sensible thing to do, saves trouble with the seat bolster and seat plastic surround which get worn and damaged with the "sliding off"

Depending on the steps you're looking at, it may be cheaper to buy the IIDTool and lower the access height settings by 15mm or so, makes a massive difference. You've then got the tool for all the other stuff you'll definitely need it for in the long run! |

There are some really good deals on fleabay for new genuine deployables occasionally from JLR dealerships. Today there is one fewer. Spanners will be out soon. |

Not sure how different your fitting will be, but NMJ wrote up his installation here |

And the deployables are about half the price of the fixed LR ones which are about £800 Fitting is obviously more complicated on the deployables where the ECU and wiring have to be installed. I had these fitted to replace aftermarket which were in a poor state: https://www.sidesteps.co.uk/shop/side-step...ide-steps/ Dearer than the ones Joe90 has linked but I am very pleased with them.
