L322 Range Rover "FUEL INJECTOR SYTEM" ERROR MESSA

Hello everybody.

I hoping to get some explanations from you guys to the problem which I have with my Range Rover TD6 vogue 2004. I bought the car 2 years ago and during this time I have had few issues with it but the annoying one was that the engine was cutting off at the motor way while driving indicating "FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM". The fancy tools were not picking up the exact problem so the meachanic was scratching his head; second opinion from the range rover specialists to change the fuel pump under the front passenger seat did not do any good either so, the meachanic found out that the intank diesel pump was siezed due to cheap petrols from well known supermarkets. I actually saw the jelly which was formed in the tank blocking the intank diesel pump so avaid using the cheap deisel if you can.

I have replaced the in tank diesel pump and had to take off the tank and wash it and car is not cutting off at all , its a relief. But now after replacing the in tank diesel pump the sign on the dash is still there "FUEL INJECTOR SYTEM". As soon as I start the engine the sign "FUEL INJECTOR SYTEM" sign comes on. If I accelerate while stationery up to 3000rpm the sign goes off and again when driving on the motor way and the RPM goes around 2000rpm again the sign goes off. As soon as I take my foot off the diesel the sign comes back. Apart from this silly and annoying sign everything is fine I hope.

I will appreciate all the feed back and thank you all.

Change your mechanic, he's talking rubbish. I have run all my personal vehicles and my company vehicles on nothing but supermarket fuels and theres no issues. My Merc Sprinter did 450,000 miles completely untouched apart from servicing. BMW i3 Electric Car

Hi, thanks but do you have any idea about the message "Fuel injector system" on the dash? or just angry about the cheap diesel issue.?

You may be angry but check the topics where cheap diesels are made from cane sugar and there is a bacteria developing in the tank therefore when driving the pump sucks the diesel to move, BUT when there is a bacteria developing in the tank it develops and becomes like a jelly. Then the pump actually is blocked at that time and the engine cuts off.
wait 15 minutes then the car starts again because during that time the jelly in the tank settles down. so the pump is free again until you drive another 3-5 miles until the jelly goes into the pump again to block the diesel flowing.

hard to believe but when I was called to the mechanic center I was showed the jelly which finally was totally in the pump making it impossible to work again.

We did searches about this and proves it true.

Anybody has a clue about the "FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM" ERROR please let me know.

Apologies for commenting, i have no idea about the message only experience of supermarket fuels which come from the exact same tanks as premium fuels. For more information on the urban myths that you spread https://www.allstarcard.co.uk/this-matters...rket-fuel/

Hope you find a solution soon.

There is a pressure sensor on top of the fuel filter, if the pressure is to low you get the " Fuel injector system error" message. As the pumps have been replaced I would put a new fuel filter in and check the plug for a good connection. My understanding is that algae in the fuel is a bigger problem if moisture is also in the tank. Moisture should separate in the filter and settle in the bottom, maybe that could trigger the warning too? 2007 TDV8 VSE

Hi wayneg, Thank you for your sensible explanations. It very much makes sence what you have said here about the "fuel injector sensor error"issue.

As soosn as I have time I will have the fuel filter changed and the plug checked. As you said, Algae in the petrol is always is a big issue.

Thanks again. I will update.
