Re HD screens, I looked a the screen in a neighbour's new car and the display was really sharp.

I'm almost (amost) tempted to pull the L322 screen/head unit and fit an Android - but I'm a cheapskate. The L322 HU does all that I need. It's biggest problem is the lack of map updates, the latest for AUS/NZ appears to be V17 from 2013. Ron B. VK2OTC

I never used the Nav from day 2..... I was so unimpressed that I installed my Tomtom and never gave the factory setup another thought Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

We can't navigate by postcode like you can in the UK so the in-car GPS is perfectly adequate- except for the fact that one must either use motorways or specifically avoid them. Not a great choice.

I do have a spare Garmin GPS I bought back in 2015 when we went to Britain and Europe. It was cheaper to buy it from Halfords than to hire one with the hire car. I just bought an SD card with Aust/NZ maps when I got home. I've used it on trips to NZ.

Hi Guys, sorry to ask this numpty question again, but hoping that someone with a deeper knowledge of auto electrics can help.

Just doing a dry run fitting of a reversing camera set up on my FFRR, before I start drilling holes and cutting cables!

I have the pin 17 earth connected up and the screen goes blank as expected. However with power connected to the camera via a stand alone battery, I can't get a picture up, either from the 'video in' or 'camera in' connections on the wiring harness.

The minimal instructions mention nothing about the 2 red tails at either end of the video cable (one of which can be seen on the left of the picture), should these be connected to ground or power as well? The LED lights on the camera lit up when tested, although they probably take far less power than the camera, so i'm happy the test circuit is working as it should do. I could well have bought a duff camera. but it's more likely that my electrical arrangements are flawed....

Any thoughts on what i'm missing?

Shouldn't the black wire next to the camera be the earth!
Camera has 4 connections. Video feed and earth and red is + and black is neg. Keep the two earths separate to avoid interference from the modules. Thats it. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Thanks for the suggestion Grofus. It was a bad photo, but the wire you mention is for the LED numberplate light. I 'borrowed' the screenshot below which mirrors your suggestion.

But instead of connecting the +ve and -ve to the reversing lights I connected it to a test battery, but still no joy, just a black screen when the ground switching cable (pin 17 on the blue plug) is connected.

I have had a look at the wiring harness to make sure that was correctly rigged and tested the camera on a monitor to prove that works. The only doubt is now whether the camera is PAL rather than the NTSC that I bought, but I would have thought I would see a pitcure of some sort even if it's garbled. Or maybe the TV module is u/s.

The investigation goes on! David
