garyRR - Would a torque converter issue also cause a slightly rough idle? I also have a fault code indicating a misfire on cylinder 6. |

A torque converter issue would cause juddering (even slight) when shifting to drive and when pulling off at slow speed or a slow coast.

Same here. Its common fault on 4,4. I was asking JLR, they say yes, we know what to do. But still have no time to go there and fix it.

jaguar3 - so what's the fix for this problem? Is it just a software update, or cleaning the injectors or something else entirely? Previously I had a leaking charge hose to the throttle body and a very tiny hole in one of the four short rubber hoses to the donut, all of which I have since replaced. I have also cleaned the MAP and MAF sensors. However, this judder and the P0306–00 (26) fault code remain. |

Updating software won't fix your misfire issue, I think you need to get that sorted first.... Pete

I have not deepened in this problem, so canot say. Just JLR say they know what to do. Iam not driving very often on highway over 120kph (no highways near my), so its not critical to me. Up to 100kph no problems at all.

Had the same problem with hesitation at low speed and sometimes at higher speeds on cruise control. Had a gearbox software update by a local independent, fault has now gone and gearchange much improved. LTB00454v2 - Engine Hesitation/Powertrain Control Module Update (various issues) 2004 TD6 - Gone

To test the injector in cylinder 6, I switched it with the one in cylinder 7. Still, I received fault code P0306, “misfire detected in cylinder 6”. How strange, I thought. A friend then suggested that the fault code in fact is indicating a misfire in the 6th position of the cylinders’ firing order: that being cylinder 3 on the TDV8 4.4 engine. Accordingly, I switched that cylinder’s injector with the one now in cylinder 7. However, P0306 still appears, along with a rough idle, fluctuating RPM and a smell of unburned fuel. I have also checked for continuity on the wires going to the injector in cylinder 6 from the ECM. No apparent issues there. Is there another way I can test the injectors’ harnesses for short circuits? Save for doing a cylinder compression test, what other steps could I explore? |
