I concur with Dan that it may be a telestart problem sending a false signal.

After having a look in the WSM it could also be a BCU problem which communicates with the FBH via K-Bus signals.

From the WSM

"The air suspension ECU will enter normal mode when it receives a 'wake up' signal from the Body Control Unit (BCU).

The BCU will provide the 'wake up' signal when the following occurs:
l A door is opened.
l The vehicle is unlocked using the remote handset.
l The ignition is switched on."

Parked Heating
When the ignition switch is in position I, parked heating can be selected on and off using the MID or MFD. When the
ignition is off, parked heating can be set to come on at a programmed time or selected on and off using the remote
handset. The programmed time is a start time for parked heating to begin within the next 24 hours and is entered into
the instrument pack using the MID/MFD.
Once parked heating is on, if it is not selected off it will automatically time-out after 30 minutes. If the engine is started
while parked heating is on:
l If the engine coolant temperature is equal to or more than the heater coolant temperature, parked heating is
switched off
l If the engine coolant temperature is less than the heater coolant temperature, parked heating remains on until
the engine coolant temperature reaches the heater coolant temperature.
Programmed and MID/MFD Selected Parked Heating
At a programmed parked heating start time, or when parked heating is selected on using the MID/MFD, the instrument
pack outputs:
l A FBH request to the MID/MFD on the I bus
l A FBH request to the ATC ECU and the Body Control Unit (BCU) on the K bus
l Ambient and engine temperatures to the ATC ECU and BCU on the K bus.
On receipt of the messages:
l A red LED on the MID/MFD panel flashes at 2 Hz to indicate that parked heating is active.
l If the ambient temperature is less than 5 °C (41 °F), the BCU activates the door mirror heaters for 3 minutes
l The ATC ECU:
l Energises the changeover valve
l Sends a K bus message to activate the FBH
l Operates the blower at speed 1
l Opens the windscreen distribution flaps in the heater assembly and closes the face and footwell flaps.

I'm no expert in car electronics, it could be any one of various items, telestart, instrument pack, FBH ECU or BCU

What I do know is that if I bought a car from a LR main dealer with a warranty and it repeatedly flattened the battery, I'd be taking it back and leaving it with them and saying it's not fit for purpose, fix it and I want a courtesy car in the meantime.

Thanks for that Info much appreciated all! Thumbs Up

I tried that with my local dealer who didnt supply the car and they have been a bit funny

I am actually taking the vehicleback to the supplying dealer who are confident they will fix and have a much more positive attitude!

On the Disco 3 froum you could inform others of good/poor service if this is the case on here, once the wagon is fixed I shall be doing this!

£1800! Ouch

Not wanting to rub salt in your wounds but the Webasto unit costs around £150 used and £500 Brand New.

Did they at least give you your faulty one back?

Yeah, the silly thing is that the FBH ECU, which is what went bad here, is not even actually an integral part of the FBH (they used to be completely separate about 15 yrs ago). The ECU is very easily removable and replaceable. I know that shops specializing in FBH, such as Bosch service centers here on the mainland, do this regularly. The problem is that LR is not a shop specializing in FBH's - and they see the FBH as a unit rather than as a repairable sum of parts.

I'd def pick up the old unit. You could find a used ECU for a coupla and sell the FBH on the bay as a working, replacement unit to some unfortunate soul such as yourself... Laughing
