I’m getting an occasional high pictched, fast “wob wob wob” sounds form the rear my car. Starts at around 50MPH. Any ideas? Bearing? I’m just about to change the rear brake disks and pads as I I have a judder under braking. Also an upper knuckle suspension bush as just starting to ware.

Got any wobble on the wheel?

My MOT guy gets the wheel just off the ground/ramp, then shoves a large jemmy/crowbar bar under the wheel to check for any movement .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

One of the bushes needs replacing, so might make it difficult to be sure. But I don’t think there is any play.

There was no play in mine and passed the mot without problem. But made that awful noise you described as soon as I pulled away.

Could be a sticky brake caliper?
It will heat and warp the disc and after you drive on it for a few miles you get a similar wob wob wob sound. Also the braking can go shuddery for some, the heat can finish off the bearings if you dont get it early.

Check the discs visually and see if there are any scuff marks.

One of the disks is scored and I have brake judder from the rear. Sounds like I should get a wheel bearing along with the disks and pads.

Change the calipers on both sides along with the discs and pads.
It is the caliper that is causing the disc to warp and it will just warp the new set you put on.
Not the hardest job if you have access to ramp.

All 4 of mine went around the 95k mark

Mines on 81k miles. Will change the calipers too. Do you recon the fast wob wob wob noise is the calipers sticking, or do the bearings at the same time to be sure?

The wob wob wob is the pad rubbing off the disc and squeaking.

The more you drive the more it has rubbed and the hotter the disc has gotten. The disc heats, expands and continues to rub until cool. I got nailed with this during the summer while working in the UK. I was doing short journeys where it was not an issue. Longer journeys would have it making the sound and at one stage i had to buy a bottle of water and dump it over the disc and caliper as it was too hot. It was my passenger side caliper sticking. I brought it to Cam tech Craig to get fixed and he explained i had fried my bearing too. He drove with me in the passenger seat and i could feel the bearing grinding. Can you feel it through the floor? The heat from the sticky caliper had done my bearing.

I changed my rear calipers as soon as i heard the wob wob wob sound as i knew what it was. The bearings were fine as i got it early. There was no play in the rear hubs and its been good ever since.
