2003 L322 KEY NOT WORKING IN DOOR LOCK

I recently discovered after a flat battery and not being able to enter my L322 2003 via the fey fob, that when I tried the key in the door it would also not unlock.

Research reveals the door lock has 2 cables which operate the inner and outer door handles, these work perfectly but it doesn't show how the key in door lock works.

I am thinking some lever or cam might be broken they operates the lock latch assembly.

Does any one have a picture or info on how the key lock works, I don't want to pull everything off yet.
thanks in advance

Hi,

Here’s a link to YouTube for a powerfuluk video explaining how the door lock is removed.

It’s very simple, only one bolt and it’s out there’s no cables involved. The problem is that usually it hasn’t been put back properly.

Thanks Simon for the vid , looking at the vid I should be able to remove the grommet and unscrew that hidden screw to remove the lock and see if something is broken on it without taking the door card off.
Very Happy thanks

My old RR had this problem, someone had removed the lock in the past and not refitted correctly, there is a rod that links the actual barrel to the mechanism, when refitting it had to be inserted into the mechanism or else it misses and slides underneath.

It's a very quick fix, the video around 3:50 shows it perfectly Current
