I have just spent £700+ having the belts and tensioners renewed but the clicking noise is still there when the engine is cold. It goes away when warm. Any ideas please?

Mine has had a clicking from the same area when cold since I bought the car at 19K kms and 60K kms ago. The FBH is disabled with its fuse removed and the noise is coming from very close to the front so don't think it is the FBH. I haven't determined if it goes away or increases with engine revs as I can't hear it from inside. |

Mine occurs without a/c on and is a very light sound, unlike the solid sound of an a/c compressor clutch engaging and there is no compressor noise.

Had a similar noise from radiator area a while back. Check your coolant level when engine cold. Mine was a little low and when topped up the clicking stopped. |

Many thanks for all the suggestions. I didn't know what an FBH was until I googled it! I now have a few ideas of things to check at the weekend. I will try with air conditioning on and off. I will check the coolant although I think this would have been topped up when the belts were done. I will also try and check my FBH!

The tensioners do go. But if you have that done on the basis of the noise and the noise it still there £700 later then that's not good. But if you're happy with them pls PM me as I'm in London too and always keen to hear a recommendation. That was the only reason I was asking.

My last L322 was a 2011 VSE, this had that clicking at cold from new - it sounded like the fan was catching ever so slightly - but not as loud as the YouTube video. It definitely wasn't the FBH on mine as it came from the fan belt area and even did it in 70/80 degree temperatures when the FBH isn't running.

My 2011 4.4 TDV8 does exactly the same. I had all my tensioners and pulleys along with belts changed as one of them was squeaking, and the clicking hasn’t changed. Does it from cold every time. |
