Accident

Today a 44ton artic reversed into my Fattie at low speed, damage looks minimal but expensive, top tailgate is deffo toast, left light cluster and bumper damage. All pretty straight forward, but, what is worrying me is that the car was in Park and was shunted forward at least a foot, is there likely to be anything that will come back to haunt me in the future as a result?

do ask for an expert to check it all especially the transmission and differentials indeed.
If they offer to total it, you might want to accept as indeed troubles might come again, not much later, yet they will not cover it anymore... l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

It's either locked the wheels and slid forward or the locking pin has broken off inside the gearbox as they won't roll whilst in park.

Sorry to hear that.
You can check the Pawls still work easy enough. Come to a stop, into park and come off the foot brake without using the park brake.
If it settles on the Pawls then they are OK. Hopefully the park brake stopped the wheels turning when it got shunted. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Don't know about in Spain, but in UK that amount of damage on that value of car would result in it being "written-off?

you don't say what MY your FF is but mines a 2003 and just had rear bumper and drivers light cluster after is was reversed into , they repaired it even though mine had previously been a cat-C so it may well be repaired body wise but the gearbox issue may end up a nail in the coffin as the others have said , could have broken a few things in that area bud Shocked

Thanks for the input guys, the parking pawl is working OK and the box generally seems OK, it's the hidden damage that worries me.

As a LHD car in europe the value, believe it or not, is about 15000€ so prob not a write off for 3000€ or so which is why the possible latent drive train issues are such a concern.

sorry to hear about the accident - you must have one of the only L322s in Valencia - spent 9 days teaching there in November and did not see a single one in the city! Series 2a LWB Hardtop - ex British Aerospace that was then used in an armed robbery! not by me!
2 door V8 1979 Range Rover
A slight Subaru blip..
110 County 200tdi
R reg 300 tdi Discovery Aviemore - gone to a local enthusiast to be resurrected in Transylvania
2003 TD5 Discovery2 - now sold
and the 2 wheeled Range Rover - BMW R 1150GSA

and finally the big lady of my dreams... 2012 Westminster - gives me a smile every morning
