3.6 tdv8 head gasket

Hi. I'm new to the forum so forgive my total la k of knowledge here. I am looking at purchasing my first Range Rover but a very clean 2007 tdv8 3.6 has caught my eye but it has a head gasket problem (on the left side I believe. It's done 100k but is very tidy. Is the head gasket a major job? Is it an engine out or body off (or is that just the sport) Is it a new engine?also, what is the reliability like on these cars, I do a lot of motorway miles and really need reliability and comfort.
Many thanks
Gary

I have a 2007 TDV8. HSE that needs to go. Very tidy and just 85k on it. Everything works too.

To answer your questions though. Head gasket replacement won't be simple. Turbos off, inlet and exhaust manifolds, timing gears and chains etc.
Why has it failed. Engine overheated? Could get expensive depending on what is found. Cam tech Craig would be the one to ask for more information on here. Is it up at a cheap price? 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It's up at £4500. Not sure what happened to it but white colour smoke coming from left exhaust. As said it's a tidy car but don't want the hassle if not a straight forward fix. as you say though, not going to know until it's stripped.

I would be very careful sir... Your description sounds like the typical turbo blown issue! Renew 2x turbo’s £3500 + Labour + whatever damage could have been caused by the offending turbo going through the induction system Rolling Eyes

This could easily mean a new crate engine at around £7000 + fitting Shocked

SO, HUGE amount of caution me thinks sir... Whistle Thumbs Up
