My starter motor needed to be replaced, fault became apparent at about 54,000 miles, 5 years 2 months. Tried to send you a PM but it came up there was no such member (?). Only Range Rovers since 1988

Mike as you may have seen over here:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic45347.html
I've had a weird one with oil level readings fluctuating.

Last week I had a low oil level and this week, with only 30 miles driving and not topping up the oil , it's back up to what it was at last check a month earlier.

Oil checked on level ground.

Very odd.

Greg Cheers, Greg

Just to add to all these posts, I have just sold my L322 VSE with almost 70k miles. She has been absolutely faultless - no mechanical issues whatsoever.

The only work required has been a replacement tailgate, which could have been touched up (corrosion on the inside) and a drivers seat heater motor - all done under the LR Extended Warranty FOC. To date she had been the best and most reliable RR I have owned.

I hope her replacement is as good Very Happy 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Greg,

I don’t think you have actually got a Fault.
The Workshop Manual describes how the oil level sensor works, and it is so complicated , for such a simple dip- stick job,
The readings can vary widely. Depending on oil temperature, length of time after engine run, to allow oil to drain back to sump etc.
I would follow Nano’s advice and just add oil in 1/4 litre top ups until it reads towards top section.

🤨🤨 You should start a campaign. BRING BACK THE DIPSTICK. 😬😬

Cheers

Vogue,
I wish more owners would report just how good their cars have been.
Members only tend to post when they have a problem, giving the false impression that FF’s are unreliable.

My Td6 Vogue was faultless in over 9 years of ownership, and to- date my 4.4 tdV8 has only had 1 Fault in 20,000 miles since I bought it nearly 3 years ago.

I have always been a believer in regular “over” servicing my cars and it seems to pay dividends.

Best wishes with your new L405 tdV8.

Cheers

Without doubt December has seen a sudden epidemic of Adaptive Dynamic suspension failures. (Mine being one).
I have bought a metre of silicon covered 16 swg. wire in red and white and a similar length of plastic tubing and some heat shrinkdowns to make 2 new wiring looms to replace the original wires. I will post some pictures when I get them fitted.

Seasons Greetings to all 4.4tdv8 members.

Hello BB, just spotted this thread. I have a November 2011 TDV8 Vogue, bought last year (from pld118, a member on here). It had a new suspension compressor replaced under warranty at 44k, software update to cure motorway hesitation at 49k, and a new high level brake light also at 49k. It's now at 54k with no further faults.

Public perception is that all RR's are hopelessly unreliable; I think P38's (and TD6 gearboxes) are the reasons for this. Also older RR Sports which are the same as Full Fats in the public's eyes.

Thanks for creating this thread; interesting reading. It would be good to have Cam-Tech Craig's input.

All new fault reports on 2010/12 4.4tdv8’s since Christmas have either been about problems with heated/cooled seats or repeats of problems previously highlighted eg. oil leaks etc. which I suspect will just become more common as our cars age and reach higher mileage’s.
Unless we get a sudden outbreak of a new issue I will now close this thread.
Thanks to all who have contributed and I hope it has been useful.

Cheers

Very useful post!

Since having a 2011 RR 4.4 TDV8, I have had the adaptive dynamics fault, a new starter motor, the o ring on the V replaced and 'possibly' the plenum issue causing restricted performance. My RR is only on 65k miles and most of the issues have happened in the last few k!
