To be fair none of us bought a Range Rover as an investment (some can afford to loose more than others), most of us and I especially include myself bought them to show off a bit and her indoors understands that. Now the S2 240 lotus Exige I bought I did tell her that was an investment Thumbs Up

If i want to go fast then i take a fast car out.
Sorry To burst your bubble DrF but petrol RR are not that fast.
PThe only thing fast is the amount of poo that comes out when you try to stop quickly in a big heavy lump.
On that subject, more comes out when i take my wifes G Wagon out so even that beats the RR Laughing
RR are built for luxurious travel, not blasting from traffic light to traffic light.
I would have a 50p bet with you if you want to go side by side with a proper fast car💰

This big loss Jay has mentioned is all to do with Diesel, it will not get better and i for one would not be buying Diesel now.
I have always had Diesel RRs but i have now ordered a petrol so looking forward to it.

But won't the anti-diesel measures target Euro 4 cars (and previous)? That might preserve the values of Euro 6 diesels I'd imagine? I guess time will tell, but anyone buying a brand new FFRR (however powered) has to expect heavy depreciation especially in the first couple of years.
One might argue that JLR has overpriced, and maybe over-supplied FFRR's in the first place - at least judging by used car prices.

"Jaguar Land Rover has launched an education programme to convince buyers that the most modern version of diesel cars produce no more pollution than petrol versions."

Agree with cob, frustrating though it must be.

Lots of opinions:

Values are falling but that's just the way that the cycle works. The car is the thick end of five years old now. If the problems were just about diesel cars then the new Discovery would be on it's arse instead of selling for almost new money. It's just another version of project fear that most likely will not come to pass.

I'm afraid this is just the way it is and completely normal and looking at the positive side it will allow more buyers into the used car market than couldn't previously afford or justify the heavy costs.

“Education programs” are never a bad thing; by using facts and reasoned argument to try and establish the truth, it would be like the polar opposite of a Daily Mail campaign and it’s exactly what we need right now!

At heart, I’m an environmentalist and get agitated when people start talking about removing emissions control hardware and I appreciate the problems that we have with NOX and CO2 levels. However, it’s a great shame to see so much over reaction to what is essentially a media driven whitch hunt of epic proportions, especially when it has all sorts of consequences, like a shift towards extremely thirsty, CO2 belching, 5.0 supercharged V8’s; they may be glorious, but it’s an environmental own goal!
